Margaret Eleanor Bartholome

Margaret Eleanor Bartholome 89 passed away Friday, July 29, 2011 in Kissimmee, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell Bartholome, and leaves behind her son Richard Bartholome and her grandchildren; Tiffany and husband Mark, Jason and wife Tracy, great grandchildren; Rebecca, Seth, Cole and Austin. Margaret was born in Calgary Alberta, Canada on June 3, 1922 to Mr. and Mrs. Finnigan, who were newly emigrates from Ireland. She had an older sister, Maureen, also born in Canada. The family moved to Talara, Peru when she was just a child and lived there until returning to Canada in her teens. When World War II broke out she worked out of Dawson Creek, Canada supporting the war effort, and there met her husband Russell. They were married on February 16, 1945.With her husband in the Army Corp of Engineers, Margaret had the opportunity to continue traveling and see more of the world. Their first home was in Oregon while McNary Dam on the Columbia River was being built. They then moved to Walla Walla and she spent a number of years working for the city. It was in Walla Walla where she received her citizenship papers on June 9, 1953. Her next journey was overseas to spend two tours with her husband working in Iran while the Shah was still in power. Margaret held several government jobs then and always kept herself busy. While there she traveled extensively through the Middle East and Europe. In the late 60's they came back to the US only to turn around and spend several years working in the Panama Canal Zone. Upon Russell's retirement, they moved to Cocoa Beach and lived there for over 20 years while Margaret continued working for the city staying busy with a variety of activities.She will be remembered fondly by family and friends as someone with a great personality, adventurous and fun loving. May God hold her in the palm of his hand. A Service of Rememberance for Margaret will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 2:00pm at Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home.
