John E. Davison

Mr. John Edward Davison, 88, of Saint Cloud, FL., passed away on Wednesday, May 8th, 2013 at his son's residence in Orlando, FL. John was born in Stockwell, Indiana on September 12, 1924, to Harry G. and Ida (Reene) Davison. He married Marjorie (Hause) on July 20th, 1945 in Frankfort, IN. He earned a triple major in social studies, business and physical education at Central Norman College in 1946 and earned his Masters Degree from Ball State University. He was elected to "Who's Who" in American Colleges and Universities his senior year and earned varsity letters in four sports his junior year. He was a teacher, coach, and principal for 20 years in Indiana. After moving to Florida in 1966, he was a school administrator at Winter Park H.S. and Liberty Jr. High for 23 1/2 years. He retired from the Orange Co. Schools in 1990. He was a longtime member and elder in the St. Cloud Presbyterian Church. He was a session member for several years, and volunteered at the "Thriftee" Center, Hospital and Tourist Center. He was also a well-known senior athlete, participating in and winning many local, state, and national championships in track, softball, and basketball. He was a charter member and board member of the Osceola Senior Softball League and an active participant in the league for twenty years. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; sons: Joseph (Robert) of Ft. Lauderdale & Kenneth (Kim) of Orlando; and his daughter, Rebecca Carpenter (Alan) of Sanford, FL; his sister, Grace Biesecker (Ellsworth) of Frankfort, IN; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Monday, May 13, 2013 at St. Cloud Presbyterian Church with entombment to follow at Osceola Memory Gardens, Kissimmee, FL. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the funeral home.
