Irma Iris Abrams

Irma Iris Abrams was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left to be with the Lord on July 27th, 2024, at the age of 80. She was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, to Francisco Manuel Nieves and Monserrate Gonzalez on February 23rd, 1944. She was a devout follower of her local church, where she caught the eye of her future husband, Angel Nieves Abrams. The two were happily married for 42 years and raised three wonderful children together: Millie, Jose, and Sandra. Throughout her life, Irma dedicated herself through prayer and worship to God and charitable contributions to the church. Family meant everything to her and so her home was the heart of every family gathering, where we all partook her homemade pasteles and alcapurrias. Her generous love sometimes manifested in mischievous ways, such as spoiling her dogs a little too much or sneaking dollar bills into the hands of her grandchildren. Like all of us, Irma faced her own trials: the passing of her husband and surviving breast cancer twice. Despite the mental tolls these trials had on her, Irma persisted in believing in God’s goodwill and didn’t mind enjoying simple and quiet things in life. Her favorite color, yellow, reminded her of comfort in times of hardship. She dedicated her life to God, her family, and her friends. May her memory be a blessing. Irma is survived by her three children, daughter Millie Lopez-Campillo (J.C. Lopez), son Jose (Sonia) Abrams, and daughter Sandra (Giovanni) Betancourt; 5 grandchildren, Amber Lopez (Wade) Hunter, Isabelli Lorenzo (Nelson Torres), Paola (Chris) Collins Betancourt, Christina Betancourt, and Gabriela Abrams; and four great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Leonard, Gloria, and Keilani. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Kissimmee, Florida, with funeral services starting at 10:00 am, followed by burial at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida. In lieu of flowers, Irma wished for donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause that was very dear to her heart.
