Esther Alonso

Esther Alonso, age 87; born May 25, 1937, in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic (DR); passed away on January 14, 2025 at Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital, Florida. At the time of her passing, she was an active, missionary-minded member in good standing of the St. Cloud Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Spanish Church in St. Cloud, FL. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was devoted to her family and had been a widow for 24 years. She is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews including a Foster Family in DR. She attended elementary school in the Dominican Republic. Attended Broadview Academy for High School in La Fox, IL., and graduated in the late 1950’s. She completed some college towards a teaching degree, worked as a caseworker/social worker in Chicago. Then moved to DR to help care for her elderly parents who had returned to their homeland in their later years. While there, she worked at Carol Morgan School as a teacher aide. Upon returning to the States, she relocated to Florida and worked as a teacher aide/assistant at Denn John Middle School and did what she loved the most…assisting bilingual students transitioning from their native language to the target language. She was working at Highlands Elementary School when she retired in June of 1999. She was born into a Seventh-day Adventist Christian home and was re-baptized in the Spanish Central Church in Chicago. After her re-location to Florida she was an active member of the Kissimmee SDA Church, Buenaventura Lakes Spanish SDA Church, and upon her passing of the St. Cloud SDA Spanish Church. She served her church in several volunteer capacities at the churches she was a member of including: the Outreach Ministry, and as a Deaconess. Funeral services/internment for Esther will be held at Osceola Memory Gardens on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. for visitation, and interment on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Flowers are appreciated, and donations may be made to Shuler Memorial SDA Church or to Amazing Facts International, in memo section please write "Donation in Memory of Esther Alonso."
