Edna Dallas

Edna May Dallas (née Gordon), age 79, of Kissimmee, Florida departed this earth on Monday, June 12, 2023. A Matriarch of her family, she was a loving, kind, humble, spiritual and God fearing woman. She was born the first of twins in Spanish Town, Jamaica on March 11, 1944 by parents, Herbert Gordon Sr., and Adinia Aquilla Laidley. She had nine siblings: Herbert Gordon (eldest), Rupert Gordon (her twin), Vinnette Evans, née Gordon, Peter & Clayton Burrell (twins), Byron Burrell, Bunny Burrell, Jennifer Lewis (née Gordon) and Peter Gordon. She also had two step brothers, Pastor Barrington Johnson and Neville Lewis. Edna mothered her first three children, Mark Christian, Jacqueline Simmonds (née Christian), and Christopher Midgley in her early years. To find employment, she would travel to islands in the Caribbean, such as Puerto Rico, where she worked to support her family. Edna married the love of her life, Antony Dallas, in 1977, with whom she had four children, Mackeala Dallas, Richard Dallas, and twins, Dean and Devon Dallas, known as Ron and Randy. She was also step mother to Rowan Dallas and Andrea Dallas. Edna and Antony eventually traveled to the Grand Cayman Islands where they spent many years working and making fellowship with members of their local church. Edna emigrated to the United States in 1986 and her husband and children followed shortly thereafter. They lived in New York for two years and later moved to Massachusetts. Edna worked for the State of Massachusetts for 15 years and then retired to Florida where she worked at Walt Disney World for 10 years until her full retirement. Edna was a stalwart Church Member, whose life was dedicated to serving God. She LOVED the Lord. She gave selflessly and helped many along the way. Above all, she loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. Her hobbies included gardening and baking rum cakes. Her life is full of triumphs as she never gave up in what she believed. Edna was very frank and did not sugar coat anything. She was always jovial and met others with a smile and she spoke the truth always. Edna has left an indelible mark on her family, friends and acquaintances. Her passing leaves a gap that will be hard to fill. Her ability to love unconditionally, give in abundance, support others and forgive endlessly, will be forever remembered by all whose lives she touched. Edna is survived by her husband, Antony, all of her seven children, nineteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, her siblings, Roy, Clayton, Jennifer and Peter, step brothers, twenty-five nieces and nephews and a host of grand and great grand nieces and nephews. The Angels are singing as God opens his pearly gates to receive her. Revelation 21:4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. Tremendous gratitude to Edna’s granddaughter, Tayana Renae Dallas, for her unrelenting care to her grandmother in her last days of life. Many thanks to other close family, friends, and members of her Church community who visited Edna, called about her wellbeing, and prayed to God for her deliverance. While no acknowledgment is needed, the family would like to honor Edna’s husband, Antony, for his unwavering love and care throughout their marriage and especially during her last days. Edna was truly blessed to have that kind of dedication and love.
