In Loving Memory of Cynthia Lynne Capps January 2, 1957 – May 29, 2025 On May 29, 2025, the gates of heaven opened a little wider and a lot more fabulous as Cynthia Lynn Capps was welcomed home with open arms by those who preceded her in death. Born on January 2, 1957, to Madeleine and Samuel Powers, Cindy brought laughter, love, and a touch of sparkle to every life she touched. Cindy was the kind of person you only meet once in a lifetime—the kind who leaves you better and happier. She was the beloved wife of Charles Capps, whom she married on February 23, 1985. Their 40 years of marriage were filled with love, many houses, even more house projects, travel adventures, beloved pets, and the kind of joy that comes from building a life together side by side. Charlie was her rock, her co-pilot, and her partner in everything from flooring to flowerbeds. Cindy was the proud daughter of Madeleine and Samuel Powers (both of whom preceded her in death), and the cherished sister of Samuel III (Pamela), Tim (Adi), Terry (Wendy), and Tracey Powers. She is survived by her son, Paul Anderson (Jenny), her niece, Brittany Powers (whom she and Charlie raised like their own), and a host of nieces, nephews, and honorary family—because once Cindy loved you, you were family. No exceptions. No expiration date. Cindy carved her own path in the Las Vegas hotel industry, starting at the Frontier as a clothing valet and bellman, then moving to Circus Circus as a bellman, and ultimately becoming a Bell Captain at the Monte Carlo. In a male-dominated world, Cindy not only held her own—she ran circles around the boys and did it with grace, grit, a wink, and a smile. Her coworkers adored her, respected her, and often followed her lead, whether they knew it or not. Outside of work, Cindy’s creativity bloomed—literally. Trained as a florist, she had a lifelong love for flowers and gardening. Her yard was her oasis, full of beauty and always a work in progress, no matter how wonderful it looked, even when her knees objected. Her pets, and yours too if they were lucky, lived like royalty under her care. She believed animals were family, and they all knew it. Cindy had a zest for life that was downright contagious. Her laugh echoed through rooms and hearts—it was impossible not to join in. She was the favorite “Aunt Cindy” to so many, the one who brought the best snacks, crafts, baking days, or mysterious and perfect gifts that made everyone else jealous. She had a magical knack for knowing exactly what would make someone feel seen and loved—and then delivering it. She was adventurous, generous, and just the right amount of mischievous. When she set her mind to something, the world made room. Cindy didn’t just dream—she did. To be loved by Cindy was to be fiercely, unapologetically cherished. Her love was big, bold, and unforgettable. Though her physical presence is gone, her impact will echo through the lives she touched forever.
