Aldyth Simpson

Our dearest mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Aldyth Simpson, sadly passed away on July 7,2023 at the age of 90. Aldyth was born on March 31, 1933 in Trelawny, Jamaica to Concie and Emmanuel Bryan. She was the second child of three girls. One sister predeceased her, and her surviving sister, Letitia, resides in England. Aldyth had seven children, all girls. Unfortunately, two of her daughters predeceased her. Her husband of over fifty years, Easton Simpson (affectionately known as Tatti), predeceased her in 2000 and she has lived with her daughters ever since. Aldyth was an entrepreneur and homemaker for many years. She was a talented seamstress who made all her daughters’ clothes when they were growing up and earned extra money for her family providing sewing services to the community. Aldyth was deeply committed to her family and made many sacrifices for her children as they were growing up to ensure their success. She would later lovingly apply that same “family first” dedication and commitment to her grandchildren by supporting them in all their endeavors. Aldyth migrated to the United States and lived and worked in Hartford, Connecticut where she made friends and was active in her church. In her later years following her retirement, she moved back home to Jamaica to live with one of her daughters. She would subsequently return to the United States to live in Florida, where four of her daughters currently reside. Aldyth liked to dance, cook and knit. She was a praying woman who had a heart of gold. She would “give you the shirt off her back.” If she saw someone in need, she would give money or whatever she could to assist. She used to say, “money is only good for what you spend it for, the more you spend the more you get.” That has held true to this day. She was loved by everyone she met. She was jovial and captured the hearts of many with her infectious smile and kindness. Everyone who met Aldyth loved and cared about her. She is survived by her daughters Eileen, Marva, Carol, Blossom and Sharon; one step-daughter Verna Henry; grandchildren Sherine, Jermaine, Omar, Shane, Annakaye, Elliot, Cezanne, Cezar, Rossi and Christopher; and many great grandchildren who knew her and loved her tremendously. Mom you were the Matriarch of the family! ~You’ve always helped the whole family feel loved, secure and close and kept us together through thick or thin. You will be missed and will always hold a special place in all our hearts and in our best memories.~
