Margaret McGrath

September 2, 1928 - February 17, 2022

Margaret “Margy” Anna Zacharias Gittins McGrath, 93, passed away peacefully at her home on February 17th 2022. Margy was born on September 2nd 1928 in New York City. She shared her entire life with her twin Milly. Shortly after the twins were born the family moved to Pittstown, NJ. She was a Hunterdon County resident until she retired and relocated to Florida. Margy worked for Ethicon for 30 years. She was very proud of the many awards she received for her work ethic and perfect attendance. She enjoyed auto racing since watching her first race at the Flemington Speedway and became an avid NASCAR fan. Margy loved to decorate her home for every holiday be it St. Patrick’s Day or Christmas. While living on Route 31 in Flemington she was known by many as the “porch lady” as they enjoyed the ever-changing decorations on her side porch. Margy loved to fly. She traveled on her own, with her grandchildren and her most memorable trip to Hawaii with her niece Penny Zacharias. In her later years her favorite destination was going to North Carolina to visit grand and great grandchildren. Margy is survived by her sons – Frank Gittins (Miko), Ronald Gittins (Nancy) – 5 grandchildren – Alan, Gregory, Ronald Jr (Valerie) Maegan (Joe) and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including her niece Penny Zacharias who was very dear to her. She was predeceased by her parents Emil and Matilda Zacharias, her daughter LeeAnn Gittins and siblings George, Alice, Honey, Cliff and her twin Milly. A Celebration of Life for Margy and Milly (passed – August 2021) will be held on May 7th 2022 Burial will be held at a later date at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Quakertown New Jersey.
