Winifred Alouise Johnson

Winifred Alouise-Johnson, age 93, affectionately known as "Auntie Win," entered into her eternal reward on July 31, 2022, leaving behind a rich legacy of faith and love for her family and all who knew her. Winifred was the third of five girls, born on April 19, 1929, to loving parents Ethel Foreman Johnson and Arthur Johnson. As a child she attended the local school at Beecher Town where she completed her education. She was a curious teenager and determined to make her mark on the world. Winifred became an entrepreneur dabbling in local & district ventures, always endeavoring to be of service to her community. Fortunately, the tourism industry opened which provided her with the opportunity to work in hospitality in various hotels. She was delighted to learn new skills. At an early age, Winifred had a calling on her life for service. Winifred had two passions. love for her biological family and her church family. She lived a life of service to God, family, friends, and strangers. Her parents attended Ocho Rios Baptist Church along with her and her siblings. She later visited the Church of God of Prophecy, got saved and joined the body at the tender age of 19. Spiritual Guidance Under the spiritual guidance of Bishop Elder Adam and Bishop Mattis, she grew in her faith and was instrumental in bringing other family members to the fold. Under their guidance, she set out to learn foundational and core principles of the church. She attended most prayer meetings, revivals and open-air meetings. So, it wasn't a surprise that she was included in local mission, revival trips and was foremost front and center at the planting of remote churches. She provided support, served and continue to grow in the Lord. In later years, Winifred had the opportunity to migrate to the United States. But she never lost her zeal for her family and her church. Love of Family Winifred lost her mother and only brother at an early age. Therefore, she became over protective of her father, who she cared for to the best of her ability. To her siblings, she was a tower of strength and support-mentor, confident, mother, teacher, doctor(lol), and spiritual adviser. She took on a leadership role (big sister knows best) and a friend respected by all. When we had good news, Auntie was the first to hear, but if we had bad news, we took a mental short straw who will tell Auntie. She often expressed her displeasure if and when family members would stray down the wrong path. As the family unit grew, she was surrounded by her daughter, nephews, nieces, cousins, and their offspring and companions, Whatever need arose, she was there to assist. "We were all her children': "She has truly touched all our lives. 'You could never find a better friend." "She was a classy woman filled with grace and charm, a provider, a true role model, a great example of Proverbs 31. All of her family members will rise up and call her BLESSED!!" "Auntie was beloved by all family members. She was a friend, avid listener, and mother." "Saved, sanctified, filled with the Holy Ghost, a great legendary one-in-a-million." Love of Church Joining the church at age 19 was her greatest adventure. In later years, Winifred had the opportunity to travel abroad. She always remembered her family and continued to provide needed support. She eventually located the closest Church of God of Prophecy, in Roosevelt, New York, and began her work. Her main passion was ministry. Winifred embarked on ministry, supporting her pastors. She worked humbly and tirelessly in the following areas-Sunday school teacher, band leader, Children's Church coordinator, Sunday school superintendent, and senior's ministry. Working with children was her joy. The local Roosevelt church grew and transitioned to other locations, now known as JAVA in Hempstead. She served under five presiding ministers prior to relocating to Florida. Staying true to her faith, located a church and found Kirkman Road finally making a home at Southside Christian Fellowship Church Winter Garden in the late1990's. Her brother and sister in the Lord trusted and confided in her took her counseling and marvel at her commitment to church and her Lord. "A legacy to my church family ... Pray without ceasing, Live a life like Paul Be available to God and say, "Here I am lord send me" Isaiah 6-8 To My Family: "I have lived a godly life, I have thought you right from wrong, I have console you, cry with you shared your joy and pain. It I my hope that you have been blessed." Winifred is survived by Jennies Blake {daughter), Martha Johnson {baby sister) and Ruddy, Shirley, Theresa, Veronica, Ivy, Dhyllis, Roseanne, Dell, Alpha, Maureen, Noel, Lorna, Eva, Lenworth. Aubry, nephews, cousins, a host of first second third generations of nephews/nieces, godchildren, and spiritual sons and daughters, church family, extended family, and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday August 14, 2022, from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM at Southside Church of God of Prophecy in Winter Garden, Florida.
