Wilbert Buchanan

March 29, 1944 – January 9, 2025, With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wilbert M. Buchanan, III (known as “Bud”) on January 9, 2025, at the age of 80. Bud was born on March 29, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Joy (Packard) Myers and Wilbert M. Buchanan, Jr. Bud worked for Sun Oil Company in Philadelphia, PA in accounting until the time he retired in 1991. Bud and his wife moved to Winter Garden, FL in 1991 and worked for Walt Disney World in various positions for over 20 years. After his time at Walt Disney World, Bud worked for Kissimmee Christian Church for several years doing groundskeeping. Bud was predeceased by his beloved wife, Diana Lee Buchanan, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and music—a passion that defined much of Bud’s life. A loving and dedicated father, Bud leaves behind four children, daughter, Lisa (Chris) Kelly of Cape Canaveral, FL; son, Wilbert M. Buchanan IV of Chester, PA; son, Darren (Melissa) Buchanan of Toney, AL and daughter, Jane (Kevin) Osborne of Orlando, FL who will forever cherish his memory and wisdom. He was also a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, who adored their “Pa.” Bud was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Buchanan, William Buchanan, David Buchanan and half-brother, Thomas Myers. He is survived by his half-sisters, Toni Davidson and Dorothy Greenwell, both of MD. Bud had a strong faith that guided him throughout his life. He was a devoted servant of God, actively involved in his church community at Kissimmee Christian Church, where he found great joy in worship, fellowship, and service. His unwavering faith was a source of inspiration to everyone who knew him. Bud was an avid music enthusiast. He had an extraordinary record collection of over 15,000 albums, spanning decades of music, with a particular love for the hits of the 1950s and 1960s. Whether it was spinning his favorite records or sharing his knowledge of music history, Bud found immense joy in the melodies and rhythms that shaped his life. Bud’s kind and humble spirit, coupled with his generous heart, made him a friend to all. His home was always filled with the sound of music, the warmth of family, and the love of God. A celebration of Bud’s life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Osceola Memory Gardens, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Rd, Kissimmee, FL. Bud will be laid to rest beside his beloved Diana at Osceola Memory Gardens. Though his earthly presence will be deeply missed, Bud’s legacy of love, faith, and music will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
