Virginia Hand

Virginia "Ginny" Hand, beloved wife, mother, Gigi, and cherished member of the community, passed away on May 28, 2023. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. Ginny was born on April 12, 1949, in Washington D.C. where she was raised by Norman Walton and Ruth Walton. She grew up in a secure environment, where she came to understand the importance of family, compassion, and resilience. With determination and inquisitiveness, she eventually found her birth parents and embraced the complexities of her unique story. Ginny's greatest joy in life was her family. She and Ronald M “Ronnie” Hand shared a remarkable journey of love, spending 52 wonderful years together as husband and wife. Their marriage was a true testament to their unwavering commitment and devotion. Together, they created a warm and loving home where their children, Stephanie Smith and Jennifer Ortego, thrived. As a mother, Ginny was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement to Stephanie and Jennifer. She embraced her role with fervor and always put her family's needs above her own. Ginny's unconditional love and nurturing spirit were evident in every aspect of her life. Ginny was blessed with the gift of grandchildren, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with them. Harper Smith, Lorelei Ortego, Adeline Smith, and Coralina Ortego filled her life with laughter, love, and happiness. She cherished every moment spent with her precious grandchildren and created lasting memories that will be cherished for generations to come. In addition to her dedication to her family, Ginny was loved in her community. She worked at Stewart Title for over 20 years and loved her work and the ability to contribute and help teach her colleagues. She was known for her warm heart, welcoming smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. Ginny's generous spirit touched the lives of many, and she made a positive impact on everyone she encountered. Outside of her family and community, Ginny had a passion for the ocean, golf and reading. She found solace and joy in going to the beach, cooking with her family, and reading avidly. Ginny's memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband, Ronald M “Ronnie” Hand; her daughters, Stephanie Smith (Jesse Smith) and Jennifer Ortego (Michael Ortego); her grandson, Harper Smith; her granddaughters, Lorelei Ortego, Adeline Smith, and Coralina Ortego; and a multitude of extended family members and friends. A private family ceremony will be held to honor Ginny’s life, and a celebration of life will be planned for a later date to gather together and share memories of her extraordinary life. Ginny’s vibrant spirit, loving nature, and genuine kindness will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
