Violet May Tewari

Violet May Tewari (maiden Clarke) was born on November 20, 1946 in Lancaster, Manchester Jamaica West Indies to Ernest and Anita Clarke. She was 1 of 8 children consisting of 3 boys and 5 girls. Violet was a smart, bold, outspoken young woman with many interests including dress-making and politics. She attended rallies with her Aunt Mary in Jamaica when she was too young to go alone, and politics remained a life-long interest. Violet moved to Kingston where she worked as a seamstress and met her future husband of 52 years, Alverado Tewari. Violet and Alverado were married in June 1972, a couple years before she immigrated to the United States. Violet was a family pioneer and moved to New York City without her family to forge a better life for those she loved so dearly. She initially worked as a nanny but became a nursing assistant and landlord. Violet gained a reputation in the nursing home that she worked for almost 15 years for the loving kindness and tender care of her patients on the night shift while raising her young sons in the daytime. With the support of her husband, "Aunt Vie" brought 22 family members to the United States and supported them in every way until they could set a path in an unfamiliar country. She moved to Orlando, Florida in 1997 where she became an active member of Central Parkway Baptist Church and enjoyed retirement cooking fantastic dishes, gardening, and doting over her grand-children. Violet had an infectious laugh that would brighten any room, enjoyed dancing, and spending time with her loved ones. Her wisdom, encouragement, and smile had far-reaching impact on many people. She was considered and called "mom" by many friends including some that met her as adults. Violet loved her family deeply and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ above everything. Violet was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters Eric, Joseph, Calvin, and Mercy Clarke and Mavis Stewart. She leaves to cherish her life, love and wonderful memories her husband, Alverado Tewari; sons and daughters-in-law Leon and Valerie Daley, Rojer and Gloria Tewari, Omar (Paul) and Mayra Tewari, Eva Tewari, Alexander Tewari, and Trevor Tewari; sisters Pearline Kates and Leanora Clarke; and a multitude of grand-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
