Vincent James Lamano Sr.

Vincent James Lamano Sr “VJ” died peacefully at home in Kissimmee, Florida on Tuesday November 8, 2016 at the age of 87. Vincent is survived by his wife, Irene Lamano; children, Jonise Medina, Cathie Blaine and Linda Lamano; grandchildren, Jasmin Medina, Joseph Sims, Ramsay Medina, Justin (Jutson) Sims, Shawn Lamano, Brandon (Brannigan) Sims, Tony Medina, Vincent A Lamano, Anthony (Dominic) Blaine, Eric Steinard, Seth (Stef) Milano and Gabriel Milano; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother Catherine Lamano, his father Alfred Lamano and his brother Patrick Lamano. Vinnie was born on November 16, 1928 in Weehawken, New Jersey to Alfred Lamano and Catherine Vitrone. In 1951 he was drafted and became a service member of the United States Army. Vinnie married his soul mate and love of his life Irene Cupsie on November 21, 1953. He was a jack of all trades from being in the roller derby, to working as a private investigator to being a builder and contractor. Even while working to support his family he was still an active volunteer for the Union Beach First Aid. Later in life he returned to school to obtain his FL Real Estate License and was a top sales manager at a number of Orlando area resorts. As a father he set about teaching his children the importance of respecting their elders, hard work and above all honesty. His children remember him as a kind, but firm, hardworking, loving and dedicated father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. He was a generous and witty man who loved to make someone laugh and would be there to offer a smile, a kind word, some much needed advice or lend a hand to a friend or family member in need. He volunteered for many different places and causes and belonged to a number of organizations throughout his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Sons of Italy, and Friends who Care. He volunteered for Osceola Regional Hospital for years driving the parking lot golf cart rain or shine and could be found cooking sausage subs at Relay for Life. He was an active and dedicated member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Kissimmee, Florida. There will be a memorial service at Osceola Memory Gardens located on Old Boggy Creek Rd in Kissimmee on Tuesday November 15, 2016 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A mass is scheduled for 11:00am on Wednesday November 16, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Church on Thacker Ave in Kissimmee, with a reception to follow at the church youth center. Father Tim LaBo will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Vinnie’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Relay for Life.
