Shirley June Robinson

Shirley June Robinson, beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021 at the age of 80 after her battle with Covid 19. While she lost her battle with Covid, she will be remembered for her strength as a fierce protector of her family and for the laughter and joy she brought to everyone she crossed paths with. Everyone always commented on her sparkling blue eyes. Born on June 25, 1940 in W. Frankfort, IL to Delora Van Zandt and Leslie Flowers, Shirley was the 2nd of 9 brothers and sisters. With so much family around, making plans for everyone to get together for special events was something she took on at an early age. Growing up, she enjoyed climbing trees, running through corn fields, and Elvis Presley on the radio. Every month, she received one penny which she splurged on a huge bag of candy. Always independent, at 16, she borrowed a car with her friend, taught herself how to drive, and passed her driver's test on the same day. In the fall of 1990, she moved to Florida to escape the snow and get real Florida oranges right from the source. Shirley soon found her forever home in Orlando, FL. She loved vacationing to Sanibel Island where she collected sea shells and sand dollars that she used in her various crafts. In 2007, she retired after 16 years as a cashier at Walmart and spent the rest of her life doing all the things that made her happy. She traveled to beautiful places and used their settings to paint picturesque landscapes. She enjoyed gambling and was always delighted to receive a scratch off ticket. A fantastic cook and baker, she was happiest when feeding her loved ones and seeing the smiles her food brought to their faces. A child at heart, her love of Easter egg hunts, butterflies, ice cream, swimming, and even Christmas in July was contagious to everyone around her. She maintained a close relationship with God, praying every day. Her favorite quote was "God is good to all." Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Lee Flowers and her sister, Tina Pearl McMorris. She is survived by her sister, Loretta Evelyn Phillips and her children, John Dean Robinson Sr, Debra Kay Grabinski, and Teresa Lynn Robinson. She will be fondly remembered by 6 grandchildren, John Robinson Jr, Daniel Robinson, Russell Robinson, Deonna Robinson, Joshua (Cristina) Grabinski, and Steven (Brittany) Ammer that were all her favorite no matter how many times she was asked. She leaves behind 10 beloved great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Daniel Jr, Jacob, Lyle, Raylen, Russell Jr, Jaide, Sawyer, Alena, and Hailey. She was overjoyed to live long enough to learn of the birth of her 2 great-great-grandchildren Luna and Seraphina. She will live on in the memory of countless others whose lives she touched. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, Februry 17th at Osceola Memory Gardens on 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road. Visiting hours are from 1-3 PM with a graveside ceremony to follow. Shirley can rest easy knowing she's leaving this world debt free, so in leiu of flowers, donations may be made to her favorite charities Second Harvest Food Bank, Boyztown, or St. Jude.
