Sebastian Fonseca

Sebastian “Sammy” Fonseca (1927 – 2020) Sebastian Fonseca, aged 93, of Orlando FL, beloved husband of Maria Fonseca was also a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, affectionally known as Chan and Sammy, entered into peaceful rest, Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Sebastian was born January 20, 1927 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico. He was the beloved son of Belen Fonseca and Carmen Rivera, predeceased by his first wife, Domitila Rios Fonseca, and daughter Aida Nieves including predeceased brothers, Belen Fonseca (wife, Awilda) and Jose Fonseca, predeceased sisters, Sor Maria Inmaculada Fonseca, Isabel Nieves (husband, Reynaldo), Luz Minerva Bedoya and Angelita Soto. Sebastian is survived by his wife María Fonseca, his son, Sebastian Fonseca Jr. and four daughters, Eva Miranda and son-in-law Jose Miranda, Carmen Vazquez and son-in-law Albert Vazquez, Nilda Kessel and son-in-law Mark Kessel, Jennie Fonseca, Stepdaughter, Shirley Acevedo and husband Rafael Acevedo: 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Sisters residing in Florida, Monin Fonseca, Lucy Bruno, Frances Fonseca, Carmen (Mela) Fonseca and brothers and sister residing elsewhere, Carmen L. Rodriguez, Gladys Santiago, Andreita Fonseca, Norma Fonseca, Hilda Fonseca, Neyda Fonseca, Herminia Fonseca, Yolanda Fonseca, Evelyn Fonseca, Nelly Muñoz, Rafael Fonseca, Jose Luis Fonseca, Angel Luis Fonseca, Solis Fonseca, Angel Fonseca, William Fonseca, Victor Fonseca, Manuel Fonseca and a host of extended family and friends that will cherish his memory. Sebastian worked at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford CT for 36 years as a machine operator. It was here where they nicknamed him Sammy short for Sebastian. Prior to retiring to Florida, Sebastian and his family resided in Bridgeport, CT for over 45 years. He was a member of Calvario City Church in Orlando Florida for 25 years. Served as an Usher, Deacon and an Elder and formed part of the Ministry for the Sick. He had a passion to serve the local Nursing Homes and visited them frequently to minister to those who had no family. Today, we celebrate his life. Interment will be private with family only on Saturday. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to DECIDE, Inc. Ministries and checks made out to Calvario City Church and designate it to Decide, Inc. Ministries in the memo section.
