Phillip La Plante

Phillip Steven Joseph LaPlante of Kissimmee, Florida, was born in Caribou, Maine, June 13, 1958 and died in Kissimmee June 15, 2024.The son of Noel L. LaPlante and Germaine R, (Corbin) LaPlante. He was born the fourth of five children. Phillip was a graduate of Caribou High School in 1976, and had a great focus on business administration. He held management jobs while in high school at a local restaurant and Grant’s Department Store in Caribou. This is after taking on smaller jobs at the family’s business of LaPlante’s Dairy, picking potatoes at local farms and helping is dad with Uncle Noel’s Campground. During his younger years he enjoyed sports at school, swimming at the family’s camp at Little Madawaska Lake and biking. Having an adventurous spirit Phil learned quickly that he wanted to see much more of the world and travel out to see his sister Noella in Oregon after graduation. Though he enjoyed his time there, he quickly returned home and tried to make a go of it in Caribou. A social butterfly, he aways had people and parties around him. As a young adult he struggled with substance use and felt he needed to make a new start. He moved to Las Vegas, Neveda in his early 30’s and worked construction and odd jobs to make a living. He never quit settled down and made roots until he decided to move to Kissimmee, Florida, to support his Mom and Dad, who was suffer from sever COPD. The family was grateful to him for being such a support to his Mom when his Dad died in 2000. In 2004, Phillip found the love of his life, Rose. They soon married in June and that was the moment Phillip could say he started to settle down. Though they did not have children, they have had two sweet dogs that are treated just like kids. Phillip worked in construction in Kissimmee, and at one point was successful in operating his own business until he was injured and no longer able to work. He sought to enjoy the best that life could offer by riding his Harley, enjoying good food and continuing to be with family and friends in social activities. His favorite sport was football and he would never miss a game. Over the years, Phillip was not in good health which limited his mobility, but he remained in contact with family and friends through Facebook. Though his death was not expected, he did suffer from many physical issues that required extensive medical treatments until his death. Phillip is survived by his wife, Rose LaPlante of Kissimmee, Florida, his sister Noella Hilfilker and her husband Jeff Hilfilker of Salem, Oregon, his brother Armand (Jerry) LaPlante and his wife Karyl LaPlante of Glenburn, Maine, Joan Patty and her husband Harold Patty of Pensacola, Florida, and Lorraine Chamberlain with her husband Joe Chamberlain in Woodland, Maine. Visiting hours will be held at Osceola Memory Garden in Kissimmee, Florida, Sunday June 23, 2024, beginning at 4PM to 8PM.
