Patricia A. Morgan

Patricia Ann Morgan born in Columbia, South Carolina on August 17, 1936, to her parents Rosa Harper and Raymond Morgan. Being the second oldest of four children, she was by no means a stranger to hard work. Being bought up in the South for Patricia meant feeding chickens, washing clothes and bed sheets by hand. Scrub-board, hanging clothes out to dry, and unfortunately out-houses was part of her weekly chores and dealings. Needless to say; she was ecstatic when her parents decided to move up North to New York City. Where she was able to buy pre-plucked chickens from a butcher, and she was extremely overjoyed about laundry mats and indoor plumbing. In New York City, she could actually be a kid, she had the average Harlem childhood. In those days, unlike today’s children, after school she went outside to play with the other neighborhood children: Double-Dutch, Jacks, Lotese (some people referred to as Skellies), Bat and ball, Street Skating, Hop scotch, and Hide and Go Seek. Not to mention sometimes playing in the pump (the fire hydrant) and block parties issued by P.A.L.+ (Police Athletic League) who supplied games, music, food and street barricades. Patricia was multi-talented. Blessed with the ability to sing, tap dance, draw, and eventually oil paint. She once, under the Ruby McAbee Dance Company had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, as well as some shows at off-Broadway theatres. She enjoyed drawing her interpretation of Black Art as well as Still Life. One of her hobbies that bought her happiness was bowling. She joined the Bowling league, and throughout her years became a semi-professional bowler, traveling state to state competing in tournaments, and winning many Trophies as well as cash prizes. After many working many jobs throughout her youth, Patricia became a Nurse’s Aide at Roosevelt Hospital and then at New York Hospital. Patricia then chose to change fields, and he began working as a Paraprofessional at PS76 in Harlem. With her sight set to become a teacher she went back to school to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Marymount College and then earned her Master’s Degree in Education from the College of New Rochelle. She taught for over 30 years for the New York City Board of Education at many different schools. However, upon retiring, she was a Teacher in Special Education at Taft High School in the Bronx, New York before she retired to Florida where she was blessed with to travel to Spain, China, Africa, and many Caribbean cruises visiting many islands, including Aruba, St. Thomas, St. Maartin, and Jamaica. Over the years, she gave birth to three children: her eldest daughter, Phyllis Elaine, then 5 years later another daughter, Sharon Renee, and then 5 more years later, her son, Steve Christopher. God blessed her with long life. She lived to go from washing with scrub boards to, front load washer and dryer, from black and white TVs to HD Flat Screen, from Encyclopedias to Google and YouTube, from The Lawrence Welk Show to and Tic Toc and America’s Got Talent; from the record player, to the Sony Walkman CD player, and from the Kodak polaroid camera and the rotary dial up phone to the iPhone…and all these things you can do or watch on your smart phone, Bought up attending and singing in the store front church, later she was a diacilate in the church. Where she ushered, set up communion, as well as any on the spot spiritual request. She loved gospel, two of her favorites being: Peace Be Still and This morning when I woke up. She also loved the music of The Reverend James Cleveland, and the Clarke Sisters. Bless to go to see Joyce Myers and Della Reese, since Della’s great conversion is something, she boasted about. She, for a long time confessed and professed Jesus Christ as The Lord of her Life and The Savior and Keeper of her soul, yet in her the latter part of her days, she received The Baptism of The Holy Spirit. Therefore, if we confess, and profess Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and believe that He lived, died, and was resurrected for our sins, and ask our Heavenly Father to fill us with His Holy Spirit the Word of God says in St. Luke 11:13 “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Patricia Ann Morgan was preceded in death by her mother and father: Rose and Raymond Morgan, as well as oldest brother Raymond Morgan and younger brother Perry Morgan, Nephew John Scott and Grand Niece Fatima Scott and Nephew (by marriage) Mark Hatcher. Left to mourn her is: 3 Children: Phyllis E. Morgan, Sharon R. King, and Steve C Morgan and his wife Ronda Morgan 1 younger sister: Rosemary Scott. 8 Grandchildren; Sean Morgan and his wife Kim, Simona Magnezid and her husband George Magnezid, Kenneth Morgan, Steve Jr. Morgan and wife Denise, Shaniqua Morgan, Brianna Morgan, Lauryn Morgan, and Jaylin Morgan. 18 Great Grandchildren: Monique, Sean Jr., Justin, Juwan, Nia, Bryce, Kaylah, Alexis. Michael, Elisha, Melina, Essa, Sharell, Breyell, Paris, Prince, Phoenix, Penelope. 3 Great, great grandchildren: Kianna, Ezekiel, Guinevere. Nephews and Nieces: Theodora (Dorie} Hatcher, Melvin Scott, Mary Becker. Marie Morgan and Perry Morgan Jr, Kimberly Morgan, Grand Nephews and Nieces: Mark, Steven, April, Brandon, Denzel, Sasha, Shana in addition to other family Dana, Kayland, Nasia, Jayden, Samantha.
