Minnie Julia Jaquess

Born on May 1, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, Minnie Julia Jaquess, affectionately known as “Puddin,” passed away surrounded in love. She was the daughter of Evelyn and James Jaquess and grew up with siblings Bennye Jones, Alma Jean Williams, and Sonny Gayden. Minnie attended St. Louis Public Schools, later achieving her GED in January of 1997—a testament to her determination and resilience. Her career in cosmetics spanned over 25 years at Famous Barr, where she became a beloved figure to customers as “The Perfume Lady,” known for her warm smile and expert knowledge. Minnie was mother to three children, Julian Maurice Jaquess, Derrick Oliver Jaquess, and Ciara Camille Johnson, whom she called her “gift from God.” Her heart was filled with love for her grandson and two granddaughters, especially Evelyn Blair-Williams, who held a special place in her life. One of her favorite family roles was aunt. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart. Known for her beautiful writing, Minnie had a gift for sending heartfelt letters, cards, and notes to her loved ones. She marked every occasion with a personal touch, brightening the lives of those who crossed her mind. Her faith was central to her life, and she was an active member of both Compton Hill M.B. Church and Solid Rock Community Church. Minnie served faithfully in ministry, singing in the choir, participating in the Women’s Missionary Union, and welcoming all as a member of the usher board. Her “Jesus Joy” radiated to everyone around her, and she shared her testimony openly to encourage and uplift others. A social butterfly with a love for life, Minnie had the remarkable gift of making everyone feel like a friend. Her contagious laugh and vibrant spirit lit up every room, making her the life of the party. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Minnie’s legacy is one of deep love, faith, and joy. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her life. Her celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 at 2:00pm at Solid Rock Community Church, 1904 Michigan Ave, Kissimmee, Fl 34741.
