Milford R. Garraway

Nothing is done before it’s time”…. This is one of our Father’s most used sayings when he wanted to make a point about a situation about himself, or to us in relation to life. It’s with great regret Dad for me to say that your time to Rest In Power is now upon us.I will take all of you back briefly to who is Milford R. Garraway (Our Father), and his original journey in this life. Born to Eric And Alberta Garraway in 1944, in Guyana, S.A. He hails from the Pomeroon providence which has an avg population of 50,000.00, which is also a mostly water populated area. As a youngster, our father competed in school (Track) athletics, and would always let us know about the championship “CUPS” his school won because of him. Later he worked at sea, and later migrated to the United States of America in late 1969. His occupational field spanned from Healthcare to Electrical Technology. Milford was man who believed in education, and was a do as I say, and not what I do type of Father, and could come across as strict, but that was his tough love approach towards us. We as children also heard countless stories about what can happen to us if we didn’t have good moral character in life. That’s a sign of a good parent protecting his kids from future harm. To say my Dad was a perfect father would be stretching the truth, and so I say that an Identifiable father whose children could always reach out and touch him was always is great thing for us throughout life. I witnessed my father reinvent himself as a Man, always taking it to another level. He was a very determined person, and always made the most of his circumstances professionally and personally. Our Father retired as a Master Electrician, and became a deacon of the church with his wife Rita. I always use to tell him it’s not how you start a race, but it’s how you finish… and so, I would say he finished it in fashion where all of his children were in a great emotional space with him always saying I love you, at every ending phone call. At the end of the day, that is what truly matters with all parents and their children. Our Father is survived by his four paternal children and seven grandchildren, and three additional step children, and four step Grandchildren through his current wife Rita Garraway. When you get settled upstairs Dad, I know you will reach out to guide, and protect all of us who are still in this existing life. Until we all meet up again, continue to Rest In Power.
