In Loving Memory of Mary Patricia Brathwaite: A Life of Beauty, Grace, and Generosity Mary Patricia Brathwaite, affectionately known as Pat, graced this world on March 15, 1939, in Bridgetown, Barbados, born to Joseph Fernando Graham and Brenetta Gachette. She was the eldest among her four beloved siblings. In her late teens, Pat embarked on her professional journey as a salesperson at Courts Furniture store in Barbados, where fate brought her together with a young man named Rannie. During the festive Christmas month of December 1957, Rannie's eyes met Pat's for the first time, and he was captivated by her beauty and grace. It was love at first sight for him. In December of 1961, Pat exchanged vows with Randolph Brathwaite and went on to raise three wonderful children: Ophelia, Stephen, and Jeffrey. In 1967, Pat took the courageous step of migrating to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, New York, where she lived for over 20 years. She found employment at JP Morgan, serving as a diligent clerk. In 1994, after years of hard work, Pat and Rannie decided to retire and relocated to Kissimmee, Florida, where they embraced a new chapter in their lives together. Despite her retirement, Pat's heart remained devoted to bringing joy and magic into people's lives. She chose to work part-time at Disney World, making valuable contributions by creating unforgettable experiences for family, friends, and visitors alike. A firm believer in "there is no place like home," Pat's residence was a haven of warmth and serenity for her family. Her impeccable homemaking skills were admired by all who entered her abode. Pat was a woman of many talents, gifted with creativity and skilled with a Singer Sewing machine. Throughout her life, she lovingly crafted beautiful clothes and decorative pillows that reflected her peaceful and serene nature. Her green thumb was evident in the small garden she nurtured, boasting a variety of herbal, fruit, and vegetable plants on her lanai. The family delighted in the annual pineapple produced by one special plant, carefully tending to its growth with anticipation. Generosity was ingrained in Pat's heart, and she touched countless lives in a positive way. Always one to share her Bajan heritage, she delighted family, friends, and visitors with her delectable dishes and drinks, which she lovingly prepared herself. Her traditional Bajan drinks, such as Sorrel, Mauby, and ginger beer, along with her mouthwatering dishes like coconut bread, black cake, plantain and chop meat pie, cheese macaroni, and much more will be deeply missed by all. On Monday, July 24th, 2023, after a brief period of illness, Pat answered God's call to glory, leaving behind her devoted husband Rannie of 62 years, her cherished children Ophelia, Stephen, and Jeffrey, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Mary Patricia Brathwaite's legacy of beauty, grace, and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched, and her memory will continue to shine brightly through the love she shared with everyone around her. May she rest in eternal peace.
