Marie Carol Lockbaum

Marie was born and raised in Delaware County, PA (near Phila). She was guided throughout her life by her two Grandmothers; Jennie Hyland and Ruth Lockbaum. Even after her Grandmothers passed away, she respected what they had taught her and based her decisions on those lessons (listen, learn and be fair). Marie's family was very large. Her parents, George and Marie, had nine children of which Marie was the oldest. Her siblings were George (married Yvonne and have three children: Megan (married RJ Dulin), George and Katie); Jane (deceased); Linda (married Mike Wallace, and have three children: Michael, Gregory (married Katie and have three children), and Christina); Kevin (deceased); Thomas (married and has two children: Tom (married Nicolette and have one child) and Lindsay (married Jay Hansell and have two children); Teresa (married Jim O'Connor, deceased); Cathy (deceased, married Mike Iazzetti and has a son, Michael); and Susan. She also had eighteen and Aunts and Uncles all of whom along with their families always made time for her. Russell & Elaine, Virginia & Ray, Phyllis & Fred, Bob & Marie, Jake & Liz, Judy & Chuck, Ruth & Sid, Johanna & Ray, and Bill & Donny. Then there are over fifty cousins and second cousins who Marie new most of, some more than others, but was able to get very close with some and cared and admired them. Marie had two wonderful careers. The first - she became a Stewardess (now called Flight Attendant) for American Airlines in 1970 and was with them for forty years. Besides flying, she worked on many internal projects (training for emergency procedures, created service procedures, worked with a team of other flight attendants in the interior designs of two aircraft (A300 and the 777). She worked with many fellow flight attendants on the Quality of Work Life program and while working with this group, she teamed up with her friends Ada Asher and Patti Palmer and co-founded the charity "Wings Foundation, Inc.". This charity raises money for seriously ill flight attendants and those who have had catastrophic incidents (hurricanes, fires, earthquakes, etc.). All of the people who have volunteered their time and energy have made this foundation enormously successful and is still going strong. Marie holds this project very dear to her heart and is very proud to have known and worked with them. Of course, while she was flying with the airline she managed to get in some traveling. Besides her working trips, she enjoyed the opportunity to travel on her own time - Cruises to Alaska, the Baltic, the Nile, the Mediterranean, the Panama Canal, and four trans-Atlantic crossings on the QEII. Then of course going to many countries, enjoying the people, food, museums and beauty of the countryside. Her next career was working with Disney for ten years. Marie first went to Disneyland in 1970 where she fell in love with all things Mouse. She went Disney World in 1973 and knew then that she wanted to work for Disney when she retired from flying and she kept true to her word. Marie was on a Disney property every six months since her first visit and yes that did include Disneyland Paris. As with the airline, Marie met many wonderful people and learned as much as she could, always keeping what her grandmothers had taught her. Marie always enjoyed socializing with her family, and all of the people she met along the way - great dining experiences, playing games, family picnics, holiday gatherings, dancing, museums, all kinds of foods from many of her travels, (some of which she did not like that much), laughing and telling stories.
