Maria Alma Razon

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of Maria Alma Karaan Razon, a devoted sister, aunt, friend, and nurse, on September 4, 2025, in Orlando, Florida, at the age of 65. Born on June 6, 1960, in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines, to Antonio and Albina Karaan, Alma’s life was defined by her generosity, compassion, and tireless dedication to others. She pursued nursing at Cebu Doctors in Cebu, Philippines, and soon after began her career abroad in Saudi Arabia. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Jimmy Razon, and the two were married on December 2, 1993, in the Philippines. Together they eventually immigrated to the United States, where they lived first in New Jersey from 1991 to 2004, and later settled in Kissimmee, Florida, which became their beloved home. Alma spent her professional life as a nurse specializing in Hemodialysis, where her care and dedication left a lasting mark on countless patients. Many adored her so much that they would refuse treatment if Alma wasn’t there. Even in retirement, her dreams of caring for others carried forward into her passion for food. Alma loved to cook and bake, filling her kitchen with warmth, sweet aromas, and the joy of sharing. Her chiffon cakes, lumpia, and Torta Mamon - soft, sweet Filipino sponge cakes topped with a delicate crunch of sugar crystals - were unforgettable favorites. She dreamed of culinary school, but in her own way, she had already earned the title of chef in the hearts of her family and friends. Her generosity was boundless. After finishing nursing school, she put her youngest sister, Mildred, through nursing school as well, then provided her with legal and financial support to help her move to the United States. Alma also cared for her mother, Albina, until her passing. Her kindness rippled far beyond her family, touching friends, patients, and even the animals she loved as her own children, including her beloved cat, Mao Mao, and her late companions Hazel and Sandy. Alma was deeply faithful and an active member of her church community (name of church). She carried her faith not just in prayer but in action, living out her devotion in every gesture of care and service. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Razon; her parents, Antonio and Albina Karaan; her brother, Alan Karaan; and her brother-in-law, Buen Domingo. She is survived by her sisters, Ophelia Barrera (with husband Exuperio), Toni Dela Cruz (with husband Amado), Belen Domingo, Delia Karaan, and Mildred Williams (with husband Peter); her brother, Paul Karaan (with wife Juliet); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry her legacy forward with love. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 5–9pm, followed by a Funeral Service on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10am, at Osceola Memory Gardens (3175 Pleasant Hill Rd., Poinciana, FL 34746). Interment will follow at 1717 Old Boggy Creek Rd., Kissimmee, FL. Flowers are welcome and may be delivered to Osceola Memory Gardens by noon on September 19th. Alma’s life was a gift, one of service, kindness, and love without limit. She gave more than she ever asked for and touched more lives than she ever knew. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her generosity and light live on in all those she cared for. “Her hands healed, her heart nourished, and her love endures.”
