Mrs. Mae I. Berwick

Mae Ionie Berwick affectionately called Auntie Mae, was born to Imogene McCalla-Berwick and Douglas Berwick in Retreat, St Mary Jamaica, WI on March 22nd 1915. She was the first child born to this union. She was a very successful entrepreneur having several business in the cities of Montego Bay and Kinston where she resided for many years. Mae accepted Christ into her life at an early age and attended Anglican churches in Retreat, Montego Bay, Kingston, Montreal Canada and Episcopal churches in the Bronx, New York and Kissimmee, Florida. She migrated to Montreal, Canada in 1962 where she spent many enjoyable years. In 1970 with her daughter’s (Pansy Stanford) encouragement she decided to migrate to the United States where she would be closer to many family members. She worked at the Hebrew Hospital for the Chronic Sick in the Bronx New York where she touched the lives of many who came in contact with her. She retired from Hebrew Hospital in 1990 and decided it was time to leave the cold of New York and re-locate to Kissimmee, Florida. She really enjoyed living in Kissimmee which could easily be seen by the many hours she worked in her garden. She planted many types of tropical fruits, flowers and trees. She was thrilled to share her fruits with friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed good food, fine wines especially if they were made in Jamaica. She enjoyed all types of music which she played often and entertained everyone who entered her doors. She joined the Toho Friends Senior group and enjoyed many activities with them. Mae is survived by a son Edgar Panton and wife Althea Panton, daughter Pansy Stanford and her husband Lascelles (Ben) Stanford.-6 grandchildren, Patrick (Ricky) Stanford, Mark Panton and Sandra Panton, Dwight Panton and Lisa Panton, Keith Briggs Sr. Fitzroy Briggs, Erica Briggs- Powell. , 13 Great grandchildren Mark Panton Jr. Leon Panton, Jessica Davis, Serena Panton, Mario Davis, Asia Panton and Dwight Panton Jr. Keith Briggs Jr. Sydane Briggs, Jordan Briggs, Josh Briggs, Christina Powell and Camille Powell- 4 Geat great grand, Malaya Blair, Isaac Panton, Mikhel Blair and Raina Panton. Proceeding her in rest are two Sisters Irma Reid and Nell Darby, grandson Wayne Stanford and granddaughter Deborah Panton. She also leaves behind many relatives and special friends from Jamaica and both the east and west coasts who all loved her and will miss her dearly. You’ll never be forgotten Though you have passed away The deeds you’ve left behind Will live on each day. We didn’t want to give you up Sleep on and take your rest This act of God, we dare not question For He alone knows best.
