Madeline Lucy Herrmann

Madeline Lucy Counts Herrmann was born November 20, 1920 at Earlhurst, Allegheny County VA to George Hamilton Counts, Jr and Barbara Ellen Hoke Counts. She attended local schools, including Dunlap High School, leaving at the end of the 10th grade, in June of 1936, when her family moved to New York. In May 1939, she met the love of her life, Andrew Herrmann, in Stapleton Park. They were married April 5, 1940. A son, Andrew W. Herrmann was born to them on Sept. 8, 1941 and a daughter, Karen Ann Herrmann Graham on Aug. 21, 1946. Madeline and Andrew retired to Kissimmee, FL, arriving Sept. 8, 1958. Madeline was a housewife most of her married life, but was employed as a model-home hostess for five years, by Dr. & Mrs. George E. Beauchamp, developers of Orange Gardens subdivision, in Kissimmee, FL, and for several years, was employed at Marcal Growers, also in Kissimmee. She belonged to the Footlight Theatre Guild for many years (now named the Osceola Players), the Osceola Hisotrical Society (1976-1990), the Osceola County Humane Society for 15 years and the First Baptist Church in Kissimmee. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew; eight brothers and sisters; and her daughter, Karen Ann H. Graham. Survivors include her son, Andrew W. Herrmann of Kissimmee; her much loved sister, Frances Marie Counts Stokes of Dixon, MO; son-in-law, George F. Graham of Kissimmee; he rcousins: Helen Counts Stinespring of White Sulphur Springs, WVa, Doris K. Smith of Covington, VA; her nephews: Francis "Buddy" Cooke (Joanne) of Staten Island, NY, Roger Smith of Dixon, MO, Ed L. Wise (Gwen) of Cuba, MO, David Herrmann of Hamburg, NY; her nieces: Patricia Cooke Weiss (Don) of Titusville, NJ, Nina Fontana, Joan Fontana Muscarella and Judy Wilcken Pepe, all of Staten Island, NY, Ellen Counts Quinn (Joe) of Forked River, NJ, Jimmy Marvin of Ullman, MO and Billy Marvin (Bobby Jo) of NC; her five grandchildren: Kelly A. Graham Pierce (Terry), Anita Graham Lanier, Karol A. graham, David & George Graham, all of Osceola County, FL; her six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; along with special friends: Peter M. & Ann Marie Reilly of Osprey, FL, Calvin and Martha B. Anderson of Kissimmee, Tom & Mercy Harfield of Elizabeth, NJ & Janet B.F. Kendall of Kissimmee. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Rose Hill Cemetery, Kissimmee, FL with the family receiving friends on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Osceola Memory Gardens, Kissimmee from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the artful care of Osceola Memory Gardens, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Rd., Kissimmee, FL 34744.
