Lucas Bugsy Vanzant

Lucas Bugsy Vanzant, infant son of Christopher Lloyd Vanzant and Jessica Danielle Martin died in his parent's arms at Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital, Orlando on Saturday, June 6, 2015. Lucas was born on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Winnie Palmer Hospital. He weighed 4 pounds, 7 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long at birth. Lucas laughed and smiled throughout his 6 months and 3 days; bringing joy and happiness to everyone he touched. He was a little fighter and possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a gift and an opportunity to create lasting memories. Lucas is deeply loved by his mommy and daddy. He experienced their reassuring loving embrace every day, he listened to songs sung to him, received lots of hugs and kisses from his family, and being told "I love you" an uncountable amount of times. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two big brothers; Derek Landon Sandlin, Jr. age 4 1/2 and Logan Alexander Sandlin, age 3, his paternal grandparents, Charles and Tina Byrd; and great-grandma, Bertha Vanzant and maternal grandparents, Lydia and C.L. "Buddy" Sealey; his aunt and uncles on Chris's side, Dan and Holly Herman, James Lee Vanzant and Lance Mitchell Falter; aunts and uncles on Jessica's side, Amanda Victoria Isaacs, James Andrew Martin, William Christopher Martin, Paul and Cindy Jaeger, Philip and Anela Haia Jaeger, Richard and Ashley McGourik, Anthony Lee Sealey, and numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins. He was preceded by his paternal great-grandfather, James Lloyd Vanzant, his maternal grandfather, James Edward Martin and grandpa, Russell Paul Jaeger. Lucas touched so many lives in such a brief time, his passing will remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his beautiful smile, he will forever remain in our hearts. A Celebration of Life for Lucas is planned for Saturday, June 13, 2015. At 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Warren Park, 3406 Warren Park Drive, Belle Isle. A catered lunch is being provided by Smoking Oaks BBQ. We will be gathering to share photos and memories of Lucas with family and friends. At the request Lucas's parents, there will be no public viewing or funeral service. A private graveside service and interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date.
