Celebrating the Life and Homegoing of Deacon Leroy Vincent Johnson. October 1, 1934- September 23, 2010 Well done thou good and faithful servant, well done. From Matthew 25:21 Deacon Leroy Vincent Johnson was born on October 1, 1934 in the Jamaica West Indies to Solomon and Mildred Johnson. He left Jamaica and migrated to England and then the United States were he resided in Brooklyn, New York. He became a certified HVAC technician and was employed by Brooklyn Jewish Hospital for over twenty years. There he met and married his lovely wife of 40 years, Dorothy. From New York, Leroy and his family moved to Lenoir, North Carolina where he lived for five years until finally settling in Kissimmee, Florida for the duration of his life. Leroy was a God fearing man whose love for the Lord was shared and taught to his family on a daily basis. He was committed to his walk with God, being one who loved to witness about the goodness of Jesus. Even in failing health, he never complained and kept the faith of Job. Leroy was a kind and gentle man that always had a smile on his face and love in his heart. He never met a stranger that would not transform into a lifelong friend. The love he had for his family knew no limits and could not be described simply be mere words. He was a fun loving, happy man whose strength and honesty went before him in every situation. He enjoyed many activities in his lifetime. One of these that he enjoyed immensely was his brotherhood in the Mason’s, for which he participated in for over 40 years. Anyone who knew him knew of his love for music and he always greeted you with a song in his heart and on his lips. Anytime you would stop over the house, you would hear music coming from his “Leroy Room” and he always was ready to drop a step with you. He made sure he gave his family roots and a strong sense of family, he gave us wings to fly and when we were scared and unsure, he gave us the wings off his back so we wouldn’t be afraid. He had a kind and thoughtful word for all he met. He was very patient and also took the time to listen to anyone’s problem and share insightful advice and wisdom and to offer a strong shoulder of support. He was not afraid to speak his mind and stand for what he believed in and he was admired and respected by all that came in his presence. He always found time to let us know that he loved us and was proud of us and encouraged us every opportunity he had. He is someone that can never be replaced in our lives and his absence leaves a void that is too vast to be filled. To meet him was simply to love him, and loved he was. A finer man and gentleman could not have been put in our lives and he will leave a loving impression that will last forever.
