Mr. John "Jack" Drummond

JOHN JOSEPH “JACK” DRUMMOND Jack Drummond grasped the hand of his Lord and Savior, and walked humbly into Heaven on Monday, October 20, 2014. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 27, 1939, the son of Waymon and Dorothy Hegerling Drummond. Jack possessed a quiet grace and humor, whimsical smile, empathetic heart and endless love for his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and Jesus Christ. Jack will be dearly missed by his wife of 30 years, Shirley, and seven children, Christina (Tommy) Clower, (GA), Kellie (Marvin) Maschke, (GA), Mindy Drummond (Mardy King), (FL), Keith (Kristen) Drummond, (TX), Melodie (Donald) Parker, (PA), Deidra (Bruce) West, (FL) and Tyler Persons, (FL). Also left to rejoice in his homecoming are 16 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brent) Widener, (GA), Michelle (David) Carrier, (NC), Daniel Clower, (GA), James Clements, Jr. (GA), and Joseph Clements, (GA), siblings Josephine, Luke, and Jacqueline Drummond, (TX), Jared (Kendra) Hord, (NC), Maegan Roydes, (FL), Jazlyn Parker, (PA), Benjamin Parker, (PA), Victor Faupel-Persons, (PA), Matthew Persons, (TX), Heather (Ryan) Brown (FL), and Chris (Tracey) Maschke, (GA), and five great grandchildren, Kathryn and Allison Widener, Devin and Aleah Hord, and Isaac Brown. Jack was a very soft spoken, loving, kind, godly man and his wife was often asked if he was a preacher. He loved his Lord and tried to never miss a chance to tell someone about Jesus and the one and only way to get to Heaven. He loved going to church and praying for his loved ones. Jack believed in generational prayers and never missed a day praying for his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and future generations. He also prayed daily for friends that were hurting and in need of the loving grace of Jesus. Jack was a salesman most of his life. He owned and operated three western wear stores in the 1980’s when the “Urban Cowboy” was in full swing. He started his own manufacturing rep group in 1989, doing business with the gift industry in Florida, and it still exists today. Jack loved to cook and eat BBQ and for many years had monthly dinners with 26 to 35 people, who all enjoyed the feasts. One of his special trips was to visit the top 10 famous BBQ restaurants in the south. That turned out to be a very “filling” trip with his wife, brother and sister-in-law, Les and Sandy Hauptmann, and he did accomplish it! Jack loved traveling. He and Shirley enjoyed treasured trips to many places with wonderful friends. They visited Cancun, Mexico, with George and Doni Mason, and had a wonderful trip to Hawaii with friends, Mark and Sally Chapin, two trips with Spike and Ruth Ann Madison, visiting seven western states, the New England states, Yellowstone National Park, Ground Zero in NYC, Washington, D.C., and going moose sightseeing on Moose Alley in New Hampshire. Together Jack and Shirley traveled to Puerto Rico, Acapulco, the Bahamas, a treasured cruise with the Bill Gaither Homecoming family to Alaska. He loved his trips to the Redwood Forest, the Grand Canyon, Mt. Rainier, Niagara Falls, and Mt. Rushmore. His goal was to visit all 50 states, he accomplished 45 of them. Jack was not adventurous on his own, but enjoyed doing things with his wife as she was going to do them, with or without him. Therefore he went bungee jumping, zip lining, and parasailing, but drew the line at skydiving! As long as we love each other and remember the feeling of love we had, we can die without ever really going away. All the love that was created is still there. All the memories are still there. One lives on in the hearts of everyone that was touched and nurtured while you were there. Jack will always live on in our hearts. Death ends a life, not a marriage or a friendship, or a father’s love. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert “Bob” Drummond, and a sister Roberta Jean Whitley. A viewing will be held at Osceola Memory Gardens in St. Cloud on Friday, October 24th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A service celebrating Jack’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 25th, at St. Cloud First Baptist Church with Pastor Vince Manna, and his dear friend, Reverend Cortez Frazier officiating. Jack would want us to rejoice and be happy and celebrate his joy for life. In lieu of flowers, family has asked that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Wounded Warriors, or his wife’s special ministry with deployed soldiers, S.O.S Ministries, c/o First Southern Baptist Church, P.O.
