John Daniel Crane

Rev. John Daniel Crane, 68, of Kissimmee, FL, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 26, 2008. Born April 3, 1939 in Atlanta, GA, Pastor John as he was fondly called was the son of J. D. and Nell Quinn Crane. John?s family moved to Florida in the 1940?s, as his father was Vice President with National Airlines. John graduated from Coral Gables High School in 1957 where he was also a member of the Stags Club. John was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard Reserve having served during the Cuban Missile Crises. He then attended University of Florida and University of Central Florida continuing his education in engineering. In the early days of the McDonnell Douglas Apollo and Sky Lab missions, John worked his way up from technical engineer to Supervisor of Industrial Engineering with the McDonnell Douglas NASA program. His love for engineering had to have come in part from his father at a very young age. John loved his work and the time he spent with the McDonnell Douglas Space Program. As a part of the Apollo Mission to the Moon, John?s name was placed on a special plaque left on the moon commemorating him as a "Manned Flight Awareness" honoree as recorded in the Smithsonian Institute and National Archives. Later, John left his position with McDonnell Douglas to establish his own insurance agency which was very successful. After a few years in the insurance business, John felt he was called into the ministry to become an Ordained Minister where he served for 25 years. Currently a member of Master?s Touch International Church in Longwood, Pastor John and his wife, Laura of 45 years continued to serve as leaders of the prayer team. He was also a member of Gospel Crusade Ministerial Fellowship located in Bradenton. Following his retirement from full time ministry work, Pastor John became associated with the local Home Depot in Kissimmee where he worked in electrical sales. In addition to his wife, Pastor John is survived by a sister, Carolyn Crane (Dr. John) Stribling of Miami, Florida; Laura's father, Joe (Pa) Riddle of Kissimmee; nieces and nephews, Julie Savell, Polly Savell, Sally Stribling, John (Kim) Stribling, IV and Jim (Allison) Stribling. Visitation was held 9:30 A.M. until services at 11 A.M. Saturday, March 1, 2008 in the Chapel of Osceola Memory Gardens with Bishop Mark Chironna, officiating. Interment was in Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery, Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee. 407-847-2494
