Jesus "Manny" Manuel Pina Jr.

On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Loving husband and father Jesus Manuel Pina Jr. (Manny) passed away at the age of 58. Manny was born in the Bronx, New York on January 15, 1963 to Virginia Quiles and Jesus Manuel Pina Sr. Manny was raised most of his life on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York, he was affectionately known to his friends as Shorty and he was LES 4th Street for life. Once a LES New Yorker, always an LES New Yorker. In June of 1982 he graduated from Automotive High School, Brooklyn, New York. On May 19, 1985, Manny began working for Consolidated Edison, he worked there for 25 years, while working there he wore many hats, he was a splicer, a Shop Stewart, a safety leader and very involved with his union, he made sure his men were taken care of, they were his Con Ed brothers a family all of their own. Sadly on September 11, 2001, The Twin Towers in New York City were attacked and Manny, Along with his Con Ed Brothers became 911 first Responders, by fate, he and his Con Ed brothers are the heroes no one speaks of, but it was these men who got New York up and running once again On December 14, 1992, Manny married the love of his life, his childhood sweetheart Susan Pina, On December 8, 1993, they welcomed their biggest treasure, their son Jesus Manuel Pina Jr., and since that day their three hearts became one. Manny was an avid sports fan, and loved playing baseball, he was a great first baseman and a true to the heart Yankee Fan. Manny loved music, family and friends, he lit up every room with his beautiful infectious smile, he was never ever at a loss for words. He was spunky, sassy and charming all wrapped up in one. He loved passionately and deeply and you will never find a more devoted friend. In March of 2010, Manny along with his wife and son moved to Kissimmee, Florida. In his 10 ½ years in Florida, he became very involved in the Boxing community, he loved to train as much as he loved training others he was affectionately known amongst his boxing peers as Coach Manny. Manny was a Hero, Warrior and a true fighter, who never gave up, no matter what obstacle was put before him. His influence touched many hearts and his legacy will forever live on in our hearts. Manny is survived by his wife of 28 years Susan Pina, who he has known for 45 years, his Son Jesus M. Pina Jr., his sister Margaret Morrissey, his Aunt Lydia Quiles, his Father in Law Angel Pagan (Dalia Colon), his sisters-in-law Sonia Pagan Castro (Domingo Castro) Maureen Travers Pagan, Brothers-in-law Alan Pagan (Melissa Torres Pagan), David Pagan (Lynda), Nieces Jennifer, Crystal, Amber, Nicole, Shannon, Ja’Lae, Great Nieces Jocelyn and Madisin. Nephews David, Jason, Jaime, Jayshawn, and Javien. Godson Ethan. Cousins Ivonne, Millie, Johnnie, Adrianna, Louis, Tony, Moises, Brenda, and many friends who he considered family. His Pokeno partners in crime Papo, Evelyn and Cindy. He was preceded in death by his parents Virginia Quiles and Jesus M. Pina Sr., his mother in law Sonia Ventura Pagan, His God parents David and Maria Morrissey, Uncle Ramiro Quiles and Grandmother Justina Quiles Lopez. Visitation Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 4 to 9 PM at Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home Kissimmee Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 10:30 am.
