Ingrid M Mendez

On October 10, 2021 Heaven gained an angel. Ingrid Mendez departed her loving family on this day. She will lovingly be remembered by her husband of 47+ years Lionel Mendez, her two children Tiffany Mendez and Nicholas Mendez and her two beautiful grandchildren Jaden and Jasmine. Ingrid will be fondly remembered by her six siblings Joan Brown, Orson Farrier, Juliana (Jean) Taylor, Julia (Janet) Farrier, Judy Rock, and Catherine (Maureen) Munro. Also mourning for her are many brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews. Ingrid was born in Trinidad and Tobago on June 13, 1948 to the late Rupert and Muriel Farrier. She moved to Illinois in 1974 but spent only a few months there before moving to New York where she got married and had her first child Tiffany. She spent six years in New York then moved back to Illinois where she had her second child Nicholas. For her retirement she moved to Florida about fifteen years ago. Ingrid devoted her life to being a wonderful wife, loving mother, caring grandmother, and a faithful sister and friend. Her grandchildren adored her and called her “Nana”. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren that she loved so very much and that love was returned to her by each of them. Every summer and most holidays were spent with her children and grandchildren either in Florida or Illinois. Ingrid was known to be very generous, kind, loving, compassionate, altruistic, caring and she lived life to the fullest. She had a passion for cooking, kept an immaculate house and was highly skilled with crocheting. She enjoyed walking, traveling and taking cruises to the Caribbean. During her free time you could find her moving her waistline to some good YouTube Zumba videos. She also loved gardening and spending time with her family and friends. Her garden is filled with pimento, guava, orange, and papaya trees. Ingrid loved to make people laugh. If you were in need she was there to lend a helping hand. She opened her heart and home to many over the years. Twenty-seven years she dedicated her time to Sears Roebuck & Company in payroll and marketing. She enjoyed caring for children of all ages and she devoted seven years to Vineyard Christian Fellowship. Ingrid was a woman of deep Christian faith. She had a heart full of prayer and devotion to God. She also supported St.Jude’s Foundation and the Pipiol Angels youth group in Trinidad for many years. Ingrid will be deeply missed and never forgotten. She was a wonderful person who loved life and her family. Our love for her will live on in our memories forever.
