Hollis Murray

Hollis Murray, also known as Hollis Cudjoe, was born on August 22, 1947 to Agatha Murray and Benjamin Cudjoe. He was born in a small house in the village of San Fernando Southern District in Trinidad. Hollis was lovingly known as Shadow due to his dark complexion and his ninja-like movements. He was also a skilled nonprofessional soccer player, well known with his local teams in Trinidad and the Los Angeles area. He attended college in Saint Madeline Trinidad where he showed a keen interest in welding; he was well known as an expert welder and weld inspection QA, QC engineer who was sought after by major energy companies Worldwide. I met Shadow while in Saint Croix on my first travel assignment as a critical care nurse. We lived in the same complex, our condominiums were directly across from each other although months passed before we met, probably because of our schedules. He was working on the catalytic converter, “cat cracker”. He was a nice guy who didn’t seem to mind hanging out with a group of highly opinionated nurses talking and playing cards. After he completed his job on the island he moved back to California. He was employed by a number of refineries such as San Onofre Nuclear Energy Station, El Segundo Energy Center and Thums Island to name a few. He worked with Duke Energy, Duke Fluor Daniels and various companies for assignments within the United States as well as Thailand. I often travelled with him within the states and have been blessed to have married my best friend. Hollis loved carnivals everywhere in the world “Trini to the bone”. He never failed to show love for his family and friends. He leaves behind his loving wife, Kozfey Murray and Marva Murray also his four sons, Hollis Murray Jr.,Michael Murray,Dexter Murray and Deon Murray as well as his daughters Donna Murray and Deanne Murray.He will definitely be missed by his brothers Kevin Roberts, Michael Murray and Desmond Murray as well as his sisters,Joyce Brown,Yvonne Martin and Carol Lindsey; as well as a host of longtime friends and his extended family. Hollis will never be forgotten.
