Hilda Faith Matta

Faith Porter Matta, of St. Cloud, FL passed away peacefully on January 22, 2023 in the comfort and care of Cornerstone hospice, with family beside her. Faith was born April 22, 1936, in Miami, FL to Jack and Sara (Almand) Porter. Faith was married to Richard Matta in February of 1956 and remained married for 57 years, until Richard passed in 2013. Faith leaves behind her three children Richard Matta, Pamela Matta, and Steven Matta and her five grandchildren Rachel Matta, Jessica (Mark) Bautista, Nicholas Matta, Tabitha Matta, and Levi Matta. Faith wanted to be a nurse from a young age, beginning as a volunteer candy-striper. She continued to pursue her passion for nursing through Miami Jackson Memorial hospital and went on to be a nurse for 60 years, fulfilling a multitude of nursing roles, until her retirement. However, even after her retirement, she continued to care for everyone one who came into her life, and would inspire and motivate those around her who also wanted to pursue a medical career path. Faith was a trailblazer for many nurses and she was presented the Nightingale Tribute for a lifetime of nursing. Faith was a lover of God, family, animals, fishing, and traveling. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed events at her local clubhouse. She always loved to dance and had a true passion for country music.. especially Waylon Jennings, whose music brought her comfort even until her final moments. Faith put her heart into her actions and relationships, and created extended family by embracing generations of friends into her life. A service will be held on Monday, January 30th at 9:30 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery.
