Hector M. Gonzalez

Hector Manuel Gonzalez, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2014 at his home in Kissimmee, Florida surrounded by his daughters, grandchildren and longtime love. He suffered for several years with several terminal conditions and fought a good, long fight. He was born on September 9, 1942 in Cayey, Puerto Rico to Saturno Gonzalez and Francisca Vasquez. Hector was raised in Puerto Rico which is where he joined the United States Army in 1960. He served for two years before being honorably discharged. He later moved to New York and began his adult life. He worked for Walt Disney World as a maintenance technician where he worked for 17 years before retiring. Hector married Christine Vicente in ???? in Bronx, NY after many years together. They were happily married for 10 years and then divorced but continued to be very fond of each other as they continued to raise their children. He enjoyed fishing and swimming but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. Hector is survived by three daughters, Angelica (aka Angie) Rodriguez of Kissimmee, Florida married to Ivan, Mildred (aka Millie) Brown of Winter Haven, Florida married to Cedric and Rosemary (aka Beba) Gonzalez of Kissimmee, Florida; his two brothers and two sisters, Angel of Bronx, NY, Orlando of Cayey, Puerto Rico, Mirtha of Cayey, Puerto Rico married to Theodore and Brunilda of Cayey, Puerto Rico; his grandchildren, Ciara (13), Chantel (9), Jenasha (7), and Cobe (6), and nieces and nephews and other loved relatives. Hector was preceded in death by his father Saturno Gonzalez. A viewing will be held at Osceola Memory Gardens, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee, FL 34744 on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1603 N Thacker Ave, Kissimmee, FL 34741 at 11:00am. Burial will follow the funeral service at Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Vitas Hospice for their tireless care for our father and their emotional support for all of the family that came to visit. We would also like to thank the staff at Osceola Memory Gardens for their unmatched care and attentiveness to the details of our father's funeral service. In addition, we would like to thank all of the family and friends that found time in their busy schedules to come and visit with our father during his last moments- we are truly thankful. Lastly, we would like to thank our father for his many years of unfaltering love, support, and guidance. We will always love you and we miss you in a way that words cannot begin to express. We will see you in Heaven. "If we fully understood what heaven was like we might want to go there before our time but God has appointed a time for each of us to live and to die".
