ÿ Harold Webb DeBord Orlando,Florida-Harold W. DeBord, age 65 4102 Brookmyra Drive, died February 24, 2009 in Orlando Florida Mr. DeBord was a native of Johnson City, Tennessee, and lived there for fifty-three years. He moved to Orlando, Florida, in July of 1999. He was a son of Almer and Lucille Webb DeBord. He ÿwas a teacher and Principal in elementary and middle school in the Johnson City, TN. Public School System for thirty years. He ÿalso taught one year in Indiatlantic, Fl and two years in DeKalb Co., Ga.ÿ He retired from public school work in June of 1999. ÿAfter three and a half decades and hundreds of children and parents his influence and love will long be felt and remembered. After retirement Mr. DeBord moved to Orlando Florida and worked Walt Disney World and Orange County public schools as a substitute teacher in pre-k to fifth grades. He received his B.S. Degree in elementary education in 1966, and his M.A. Degree in Elementary Education and Administration in 1973 from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN. He was a member of the TN. Education Association, National Education Association, and Johnson City Education Association, Tennessee Association of Middle Schools and Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Delta Kappa. During his career, he had received both local and state recognition for his service to children. Mr. DeBord was a former member of Central Church of Christ in Johnson City, and a current member of Kissimmee Church of Christ, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Almer and Lucille, one brother Glenn. He is survived by one sister, Carolyn Faye DeBord Smith of Kingsport TN. and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday from 6:00 -7:00 p.m. with the services following at Kissimmee Church of Christ. Graveside committal service will be held at Monte Vista Burial Park, Johnson City, TN. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be sent to Kissimmee Church of Christ library fund, 921 West Vine St., Kissimmee, Florida 34741.
