Obituary Gerald Harland Carr, age 78, died on May 30, 2018 in Celebration, Florida. He is preceded in death by his father John H. Carr, mother Emma (Dierking) Carr, daughters Jeannie Elkins and Elizabeth (Betsy) Zellers, his grandson Gerald (Jerry) L. Zellers, and his son-n-law Wade Zellers. Gerald H. Carr was born on October 18, 1939 in Rockford, IL, to parents John H. Carr and Emma (Dierking) Carr. He graduated from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, IL. in 1957. He then went to college in Joliet, IL. where he studied agriculture. He worked for Twin Oaks Dairy in LaGrange, IL. as a milk salesman. He later became a fireman for the LaGrange IL. Fire department. He also became a salesman for Snap On tools. He then moved to LaPorte, IN. He married and had four daughters. In 1986, Gerald moved to Kissimmee, FL. and went to real estate school. He soon began working for Avatar Homes where he became one of the top sales representatives for the company. He earned the nickname ‘Cuda’, short for the barracuda fish which are known to be competitive and opportunistic. He worked for Avatar Homes for more than 12 years. Gerald was a great family man and a loving father. He married Olga Cruz in 1994. Gerald was a social, active man who was always involved in helping others. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, his 1957 Ford Fairlane retractable and other older cars, and sales. His family and friends will always remember him as a selfless, caring, always optimistic person.
