Gary James Brady Sr.

Gary James Brady, Sr., who lived 79 years on this pale blue dot, departed on August 22, 2023, in his home in Kissimmee, FL, peacefully with family by his side. Gary came into this world on June 23, 1944, to the joy of Maxmilian and Melva Brady. He grew up in Warren, MI with his 3 brothers. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was able to see so many places during this time and was extremely proud of his service. After his tour, he spent half of his adult life as an electrical engineer serving the Big Three in Metro Detroit. Gary loved numbers and logic, but truly enjoyed working with his hands. He would build or re-build anything from carpentry and DIY projects to cars. Once he left Detroit to enjoy the sun and sand of Florida, he worked as an Electrician Journeyman for the Osceola County School District until his retirement. In the summers he would volunteer at Horizon Middle School in the office, preparing for incoming students and teachers. He truly reveled in the company of family, chosen and blood, every chance he got. Always lighthearted, he spread laughter around generously at every event he attended or hosted. Gary is survived by his wife Irene and his two adult children, Gary “Butch” Brady, Jr, of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and Mary Johnson of Detroit, Michigan. He is also survived by his brother, Kevin (Carlene) Brady, 6 grandchildren, Austin (Lyndsay) Byrch, Max, Ziggy, Ryen, Noah Thomas and Nathan Willis, as well as a plethora of chosen family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Melva Brady, his brothers, Roger Brady and Dennis Brady. We will be celebrating Gary’s life on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Orlando Memorial Gardens - Kissimmee Chapel, from 2-4 p.m. There will be a memorial gathering where anyone who would like to say a few words is welcome to share funny or inspirational stories, or any other memories. Gary will be placed in a niche in the cemetery at a future date, but this will be for immediate family only.
