Esther Florence Jordan Miles

Esther Florence Jordan Miles of St. Cloud, Florida, passed away at 10:50 AM, September 6, 2013. On April 17, 1914, Esther, the oldest of three daughters (herself, Eleanor Hahn and Doris Huntley) was born to Clyde and Beatrice Banks Jordan of Gold, Pennsylvania. She married Harold Miles after the family moved to Otselic, New York. She was a hard working loving mother of eight children. Her oldest, son Lavern Miles (a daughter – Barbara) and her youngest son, Douglas are both deceased. Ruth and John (deceased) Girndt, lived in Williamsville, New York; Ruth still resides there (3 children – Sherri, Jeff, and Tami.) Ray and Linda Miles live in New Berlin, New York (3 children – Tim, Brian and Jane.) Beatrice and Asa Crandall live in Norwich, New York (5 children – Nora, Audrey, Denise, Asa Jr. and Russell.) Marie and Alden Wightman live in St. Cloud, Florida – (4 children – Michael, Randolph, Daniel and Harold.) Leslie Miles and Gloria DeLee live in Georgetown, New York and winter in St. Cloud, Florida, Leslie has 1 son, Boyd.) Mabel and David Warren live in Cisco, Illinois – (Beth, Patricia, Theresa.) Esther worked for years at Taco Corporation in Sherburne, New York making Television Antennas and later Satellite Dishes. She informed them a week before she had her eight child she needed to go on a maternity leave. What a shock to her bosses as no one expected she was pregnant! Esther and her mother Beatrice Jordan Lane were snowbirds after Esther retired and settled here in St. Cloud in the early 70’s. Esther had 20 grandchildren, 40 great-grand children and 10 great great-grand children of which the last great-great grandchild, Isaac Diehl, is deceased. Esther will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She could still beat the pants off anyone who tried to beat her at playing her favorite card game of Golf. She is no longer in pain, no longer freezing (even in Florida), walking on streets of gold (barefoot) with her loving savior, Jesus Christ. Gifts may be sent to a Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in honor of Esther Miles. Services for Mrs. Miles will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 2000 13th Street in St. Cloud. Family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM that same day until the time of service. Interment will be held in South Otselic, NY.
