Ena Estrala Ward

Ena Estrala Ward, of Kissimmee, FL departed from this Earth on Tuesday, June 12th at the age of 86 years old. Formerly Ena Gibson, she was born in Bank Hall, St Michael, Barbados on April 14, 1932 to Joseph and Ivy Gibson. She spent her childhood and most of her young adulthood there. On October 31, 1959, she married Heldon Rudolph Ward, who preceded her in death earlier this year. At the time of her death they had celebrated 58 years of marriage. Mrs. Ward began her Nursing studies in Barbados, and after relocating to Rhode Island she attended Saint Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. In May of 1975 she received her License as a Registered Nurse. While residing in Rhode Island, she served as Director of Nursing at Waterview Villa Nursing Home in East Providence. After many years of service, they retired and moved to Kissimmee, FL. She was an avid reader, she loved to spend time keeping up with her nursing journals and various books about medications and conditions. She also enjoyed reminiscing with her former coworkers at Waterview Villa. While she had no children of her own, she had two Goddaughters, Sharon Holloway of Palm Coast, FL and Karen Grant of Lancaster, PA. Mrs. Ward is also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her younger sister Laurna (Keith) Harris of Bronx, NY; her nephews by marriage: George (Ruth) Holloway of Palm Coast, FL, and Graham Ward of Ontario, Canada; nieces by marriage: Lucille (Clifton) Bynoe of St Michael, Barbados; Claudette (Orlando) Holloway, Gloria (Gay) Campbell, and Marcia Ward of Ontario Canada; Patsy Ward and Deborah Ward in England. Great Nieces and Nephews: Maria, Mark (Krista), Allison, Sharon, George (Karrie), Louise, Claire, Jared (Nicole), Natalie, Rachel (Richard), Michael, Carl, and Avery. She is also survived by 18 Great-Great Nieces and Nephews, and a host of other family, loved ones, and friends. A celebration of life for Mrs. Ward is scheduled at The Episcopal Church of St John The Baptist, 1000 Bethune Dr, Orlando, FL on Thursday, July 12th, 2018 at 10:00 AM . Interment will take place on the church grounds immediately following.
