Emily G. Brooks

Emily G. Brooks, passed away Friday, March 14, 2008 at her home in Kenansville, FL.ÿ Born Nov. 2, 1917, Emily was the daughter of the late Samuel Walter Bogley and Virginia Marie Houghton Bogley of Friendship Heights, MD.ÿ Emily with her husband of 71 years, Hugo Brooks, when they retired, purchased a home in Kenansville in 1997 and divided their time between their homes on the Chesapeake Bay and Kenansville. Emily worked for many years at the Bank of Bethesda, where her father was Bank President, and later for the family owned business, Brooks Photographers in Bethesda MD, a business originally started in 1898 by father-in-law, Joseph Robert (Catherine) Brooks, in South Carolina and later in 1907 in Washington DC and Bethesda MD.Emily attended Leland Junior/Senior High School.ÿ She was a past president of Bethesda Rotary Inner Wheel, and a member of Bethesda Womens Club for many years.ÿ Emily was a gifted pianist and organist and her passion for playing will long be remembered by her family.ÿÿÿ In addition to her husband, Emily is survived by daughters, Beverly Anne Dow, and Virginia Marie (Eric) Mondschein, brothers Claude (Fay), William (Christine), and James (Ann) Bogley; grandchildren James B. (Charlene) Dow, Christian D. (Carrie) Dow, Adam Brooks Mondschein, and Emily Anne Mondschein (Kamal) Hatami; and 2 great-grandchildren, Ian Michael Dow and Annie Rose Hatami and many nieces. nephews, and cousins.Emily was preceded in death by brothers, Capt. John Bogley, USN (Retired), Samuel Walter Bogley Jr, and Richard (Olive) Bogley.ÿ The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Emily G.
