Elizabeth Brokaw

Elizabeth B. “Betty” Brokaw, (age 97) entered into the presence of her Savior on February 10, 2018 at 2:15 PM. Born in Wilmington, Delaware to Evelyn M. Jones on August 17, 1920, she spent most of her childhood in Delaware and Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating high school, she attended The Missionary Training Institute (now known as Nyack College) in Nyack, NY. While at Nyack, she met the love of her life, John Garretson “Jack” Brokaw. After graduating from Nyack, Betty worked as a supervisor in a day nursery in Newark, NJ. She married Jack Brokaw on May 30, 1944 at Mountainside Union Chapel in Mountainside, NJ. While Jack served as a pastor throughout NY and NJ, Betty served along side him. She worked with children, headed women’s ministries in several churches and hosted countless dinners and church functions. She and Jack also became foster parents in New York and over the years, took care of more than 90 children ranging in age from newborns to 12 years. Betty was a talented seamstress and painter. She was always willing to help her friends and neighbors. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne (Tony) Baldomir of Morrisonville, NY, Son, Rev. Timothy (Sandy) Brokaw of Canton, MI, daughter, Carol (Dale) Epperly of Charleston, WV, daughter, Christie (Gerald) Wilcox of Erin, NY, daughter-in-law, Brenda Brokaw of Danville, VA, her beloved nephew who faithfully visited her every week, Ken (Tina) Johnson of Winter Garden, FL, her very special friend Phillip Cook, of Kissimmee, FL, her grandchildren: Jason (Chrystal) Baldomir, Dr. Joel (Julia Hood) Baldomir, Elizabeth (Gordon) Brokaw Wong, Abby (YongHoon) Brokaw Jeong, Catarina (Justin) Brokaw Dobson, Garretson (Elisabeth Bass) Epperly, Alexander Epperly, Jacqueline (Nick) Epperly Clark, Sean Brokaw, Caitlyn Bowell, Brianna Wilcox, Don (Elisabeth) Corson and granddaughter-in-law, Susan Brokaw. Betty’s legacy also lives on in the love she had for her 19 great grand children, her many nieces and nephews and her former foster children. She was predeceased by her husband Reverend John G. Brokaw, her son, John G. Brokaw III, and her Grandson Caleb Lee Johnson Brokaw. Funeral service will be held February 24 at 11:00 AM at Good Samaritan Village Kissimmee, FL.
