Elijah LaCount

Elijah LaCount was born to the late Lillian “Leon” and Arlena LaCount, entered this world on July 25, 1947, in Goulds, Florida. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Mattie, Lewis, Nathaniel, and Harvey. Elijah's educational journey began in Dade County at Goulds Elementary and Mays Jr/Sr High School. Although he started his formal education there, he ultimately received his high school diploma while in the Job Corps Training Program. Elijah's academic pursuits led him to the study of computers initially, but he eventually returned to his roots in automotive mechanics, a field he passionately pursued throughout most of his lifetime, regardless of where he was employed. In 1978, Elijah's love of mechanics took a back seat when he married Edna Robinson. Shortly after their union, both Elijah and Edna surrendered their lives to Christ. Elijah's spiritual journey deepened as he embraced his calling into the ministry. Serving God and His people became his primary focus. Under the mentorship of the late Evangelist Athenia Robinson, Elijah underwent training and traveled extensively throughout Florida and Georgia. He preached in churches and on street corners, endeavoring to minister to the whole person by providing not just spiritual guidance but also practical assistance such as food and clothing. Known for his generosity, Elijah was willing to give the coat off his back, even if that was all he had. His ministry took him as far as North Carolina and Minnesota, as he remained committed to spreading the gospel wherever it was needed. On Sunday morning, March 10, 2024, following a prolonged illness, Elijah peacefully passed away, transitioning to his eternal home with the Lord. He leaves behind a cherished legacy and memories that will forever be treasured by his children: Gary LaCount, Anicia LaCount, Christopher LaCount, and Darius LaCount; grandchildren: Gary LaCount Jr., Ga’khari LaCount, Jaylen Hudson, Kayla Hudson, Garren LaCount, Jazsmeainia LaCount, Christopher LaCount Jr., Kieran LaCount, Eli McCullough, Adonis LaCount, Elaina LaCount; two great-grandchildren; his beloved ex-wife, Edna LaCount; Siblings: Viola Gibson, Johnny LaCount (Portia), Alonzo LaCount (Toni), Seaner Robbins (Casey), Lillian LaCount, sister-in-law, Ernestine LaCount; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Elijah LaCount's life was a testament to his unwavering faith, his dedication to service, and his boundless love for others. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
