Edward Robert Green

Edward Robert Green, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his home in Good Samaritan Village, Kissimmee, FL. He was born on September 3, 1933 in Port Huron, MI to Robert and Edith (Grant) Green. Ed grew up in Port Huron, MI. He graduated from San Diego High School concurrently while serving in the United States Navy during his time at the San Diego Naval Hospital. Throughout his 20 years of active duty in the U.S. Navy, which included proudly serving his county in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars Ed continued his pursuit of higher education, earning his MBA from F.I.T. in Florida. Upon completion of his naval career, Ed entered into Civil Service where he proudly continued serving his country for a total of 34 years. Ed married the love of his life, Alice Jane McMaster, on April 6, 1957 whom he met on a blind date [which was cleverly orchestrated by his uncle John Grant and John’s wife Virginia (Alice’s older sister, Virginia (McMaster) Grant)] in Jacksonville Illinois. They were happily married for 57 years. Ed’s commitment and passions continued beyond his active duty in the military to include extensive community involvement throughout his life as a member of numerous organizations to include, but not limited to: the Moose Lodge, the VFW, as well as being a lifetime member of the American Legion. Ed was also an active member of the Presbyterian Church in: Milan, Illinois, Haines, City, Florida, and Kissimmee, Florida where he served as an Elder for 30+ years. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Edith Green, his brother Harvey, and his sister Dellann (Green) Hite. Ed is survived by his spouse Alice Green of Kissimmee, FL, his son Greg (Missy) Green of Rock Island, IL; his daughter Renee (Shane) (Green) Perkins of Webster, FL; and his loving grandchildren Austin & Hannah Perkins, Paul, James and Joshua Green. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Kissimmee, 15 Church Street, Kissimmee, FL 34741 at 11:00 am on October 5th, 2014. All family and friends are welcome. A military burial service will be held at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513 at 11:30 am on October 7th, 2014.
