Douglas Gibford

Douglas Karl Gibford, 81, died peacefully on March15, 2024 at Advent Health Hospital in Orlando, Florida with family by his side. Doug was born, June 6, 1942, to Karl Jr. and Virginia (Pauls) Gibford in Newton, Iowa. He graduated from Newton High School in Newton, Iowa. In 1967 he married Patricia Salasberry at Saylorville Baptist Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Later in life, Doug found salvation in Jesus and this relationship gave great direction to his life. Doug was an extremely hard- working father of 2 and owned his own small business in floorcovering most of his life although his early jobs and love was for music. Doug was an incredibly talented saxophonist in bands all over the Midwest in his younger years, earning him a spot in the Iowa Rock’n Roll Hall of Fame. In later years after semi-retirement, Doug and his wife Patricia moved to the Branson, Missouri area until recently relocating to Florida to be closer to their daughter, Michelle and her boys. Doug was the type of man that never bothered anyone with his personal concerns. Doug possessed a positive attitude and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. One of his favorite encouraging quotes was, “Have faith that things will work out the way they are supposed to.” His family and friends were most important to him, and he was fiercely protective of them all, especially his grandchildren. In those rare moments of spare time you could find him fishing, hitting up a casino or crushing one of his friends or family members in a friendly game of scrabble. His family is so grateful to have had the opportunity to have shared a cruise with him this last January and will always remember the fun trip they took with him recently to the Florida Keys. These memories will last a lifetime. Those left to continue cherishing Doug’s memory are his son William (Jennifer) Gibford, daughter Michelle Williams-Hadley (Bryan), grandchildren Allison (Andy) DeRaad, Shawn Gibford, Jonathan (Olivia) Gibford, Luke Williams, Blake Williams and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his parents Karl Jr. Gibford and Virginia (Pauls) Gibford and his wife Patricia (Salasbery) Gibford.
