HOME GOING SERVICE CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF DORIS ELISE PARRIS The lovely Doris Elise Parris was born on December 14, 1931, in Brooklyn New York. She grew up in the neighborhood of Saratoga and Dean Street located in Bedford Stuyvesant. Lady Parris was the fifth child of six children to the late Joseph and Elmira Greene from Barbados West Indies. She was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life Alonzo Alexander Fitzherbert Parris on March 24, 1956. The Lord blessed Lady Parris and Alonzo Parris with three lovely children, Michele Francine, Colette Anne, and Alonzo Raynard (deceased). Lady Parris received her formal education at Maxwell High School in Brooklyn, New York with a concentration in fashion design. She loved decorating and staying current with fashion and home trends. She later abandoned the idea of being a fashion designer as her mother encouraged her to find a more concrete trade. She worked for Chase Manhattan Bank for twenty-five years for administration services. At an early age Lady Parris developed a love for learning and availed herself to various courses to further her studies. She received her certificate in Bible studies, evangelism, and was ordained as a missionary in 2012. She attended the Brooklyn Pentecostal Assembly Church, located in Brooklyn, New York as a child and received the Lord as her Savior in her early teens. Lady Parris was a faithful, loyal and dedicated member who served her church diligently. She served as superintendent to the Sunday school, missionary department leader, member of the choir, VBS volunteer and later became first lady of the church in 1976 where she continued to serve with her husband Bishop Alonzo Parris. If you knew Lady Parris then you experienced her wonderful sense of humor, she loved to laugh and enjoyed brightening someone’s day by using her gift of encouragement. She especially enjoyed being around younger people inspiring them to do their best and serve the Lord. Lady Parris was an avid reader. She loved reading various novels such as mysteries, romance, Christian literature and a host of informational materials. During her leisure time she could be found solving word search and crossword puzzles as she enjoyed her favorite candies such as Snicker bars, Almond joy and letting you know not to forget the M&M’s with peanuts which was her favorite. Her grandchildren affectionately refer to her as the “candy lady” always filling baskets with a variety of treats especially during the holiday seasons. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She would “shop until she dropped” for her children and especially her grandchildren and would apologize for not wrapping every gift. She’d be so tired from running around just to ensure her family had plenty of gifts to open on Christmas day. Proverbs 31: 10, describes the character of Lady Parris, “Who can find a virtuous woman, For her price is far above rubies.” God truly shaped the life of Lady Parris to accomplish His purpose, a women of beauty, strength and dedication in her endeavors. In 2001 Lady Parris relocated to Kissimmee, Florida with her Husband. There she continued serving the Lord at Solid Rock Community Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Whitfield D. Blenman and later Rev. Dr. Matthew Quainoo. Lady Pastor had a tremendous love for the members and leaders of Solid Rock Community Church. On July 6th, the Lord called Lady Parris home. She died peacefully at Advent Health Hospital in Kissimmee, Florida surrounded by her devoted husband and daughters. Lady Parris is survived by her Husband of sixty-seven years, Bishop Alonzo Parris, daughters Michele Grimes, Colette Williams, son Raynard Parris (deceased), son-in-law Vincent Williams, brother-in -law Bishop George Parris, sister-in -laws, Muriel Hurdle and husband Paul Hurdle, Dorothy Parris, Joan Parris, eight grandchildren, Jason Grimes, Nicole Barrett and husband Deon Barrett, Kimberly Grimes, Vincent Williams II and wife Janna Williams, Andre Parris, LaTasha Parris, Chelsea Williams, Caleb Williams, and fifteen great-grand children, Jayden, Jaylen, Janiyah, Simeon, Levi, Nicholas, Eli, Aster, Josiah, Jeremiah, Makalah, Maliyah, Moriah, Elliott, and Nevaeh, a host of cousins, church family and friends who morn her loss. The family will receive friends of Saturday July 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration Of Life at 11:00 AM at Solid Rock Community Church Of God, 1904 Michigan Avenue, Kissimmee, FL 34744. Mrs. Parris will be laid to rest On Wednesday July 26, 2023 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Linden, New Jersey.
