Dale Daniel Lewis

Lewis, Dale D., 79, of Kissimmee passed away Sunday, October 1, 2006. Mr. Lewis was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on October 22, 1926 to Hayes and Gladys Lewis. Dale Lewis served in the US Navy during WWII, then returned to Michigan. He moved his family to Florida in 1968 to reside in Kissimmee. He is survived by his son, Stephen (Irina) Lewis of St. Cloud, daughters Ann (Dale) Miller of St. Cloud, Joy (David) Suldo of Kissimmee, Glory LaQuea Kingston of Kissimmee, sisters Carol Lewis and Wilma Birdsong of Battle Creek, Michigan, his Lady, Helen Goodrich, her daughter Sandra (Jim) Davis, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Wesley, Richard, and William Lewis. Many people in Kissimmee remember Right Worshipful Dale Lewis as Santa Claus for the Orange Blossom #80 float in Kissimmee?s annual Christmas parade. This was only a small part of the legacy that Right Worshipful Lewis left to Masonic Fraternity in Florida. Right Worshipful Dale Lewis became a Mason in 1968 in Bedford Michigan. After relocating to Florida, Dale affiliated with Orange Blossom Lodge #80, Free and Accepted Masons, in Kissimmee, Florida. As an experienced construction superintendent, Right Worshipful Lewis helped supervise the construction of the Masonic Home in St. Petersburg, and served on the home?s Board of Trustees from 1985 to 1989. Right Worshipful Lewis was very active in the Blue Lodge, as well as in Eastern Star, the Orlando Scottish Rite, and the Bahia Shrine Temple. He served as Worshipful Master in Orange Blossom Lodge # 80, as president of the Osceola Shrine Club, as Past Patron of Kissimmee Chapter #62, Order of the Eastern Star, and as District Deputy Grand Master for what is now the 17th Masonic District. In addition to being active in the Masonic Fraternity, Right Worshipful Lewis was active in civic affairs, serving eight years as a City Commissioner for the City of Kissimmee beginning in 1971. Funeral arrangements and services will be held at Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee (407) 847-2494. A visitation will be on Thursday, October 5, 2006 from 4 to 8pm. Funeral services will be Friday, October 6, 2006, at 2pm. A memorial reception following the burial service will be provided at the Orange Blossom Masonic Lodge #80, 321 East Dakin Ave., Kissimmee.
