Celeste Hawkins

OBITUARY OF CELESTE HAWKINS Celeste Hawkins was born the youngest daughter of three daughters to the late Henry and Lucy Davis, an army veteran, farmer and homemaker in Brooklyn, MS, on August 1, 1943. She graduated from Perry Attendance High School in New Augusta, MS. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age and embraced her faith in Jehovah, in her adulthood, by becoming one of Jehovah’s Witnesses baptized in 1970. She was well loved by her big sisters Mildred and Letteece throughout her life. They enjoyed getting together with their children over the years. It is this closeness of the three sisters that is passed on with their children even to this day. Celeste was blessed with a large and loving family, and a beautiful marriage to her loving husband, Charlie Hawkins. Celeste has raised her children with loving care, patience, strength, wisdom and comfort. Her grandchildren fondly called her “granny” which she loved and exuded with pride to see the legacy of her family growing. Celeste was an excellent servant of Jehovah, with more than 50 years of faithful service. It is with the assistance of Jehovah, her beautiful marriage with her loving husband Charlie, as her partner that enabled her to fulfill one of her long time goals of being a full-time servant, as a regular pioneer, attend pioneer school, and extend her services in any capacity she could in the Jehovah Witness organization. She was so happy working with the friends in the field service ministry, theocratic school, conventions both domestic and international. She especially enjoyed traveling to the international conventions with her husband and they were able to travel to four countries. Not to forget the beloved friends she made of the numerous congregations she attended in her over 50 years of service, including Brooklyn, NY, Ft. Meyers, FL and her final congregation in Poinciana, FL. Celeste was beloved by so many extended family, from the mother and father, brothers and sister widowed from her first husband, and his extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and close family friends from McClain, MS. She will be missed by her beloved sister Letteece and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Celeste is survived by her loving husband, Charlie Hawkins, daughters, Gwendolyn Fairley-Smith, Valentina Fairley-Rogers and husband, her sons Joshua [James] Fairley and wife , Gregory Fairley, and Reginald Fairley and wife, 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild.
