Cathy Miller

Cathy lived a vital, exemplary life until her death, October 30, 2024 at 92. Please join us as we honor this extraordinary lady at a memorial gathering on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home - St. Cloud, 2000 13th Street. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 14, 2025 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 700 Brown Chapel Road, St. Cloud at 10:30 AM, and inurnment will follow in Mt. Peace Cemetery also in St. Cloud. Blanche Catherine Miller was born May 23, 1932, in Montreal Canada. She was the youngest of two daughters born to John and Margaret Shanahan; both Irish immigrants. Her sister Mary was her best friend. She attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Girls School where she was a gifted writer winning a city-wide essay contest. In Montreal she worked in an office and on the weekends sang at the Irish dances. She married at twenty-two and immigrated a year later to the United States, settling in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Cathy as she preferred to be called had four children in five years, Donna, Thomas, Sean and Eileen. Her life revolved around being a great mother and home maker. She enrolled her children in Irish Step dancing and supported them in dancing competitions. She proudly ran from stage to stage cheering them on. Her Irish heritage was important to her. The family moved to Stratford, where Cathy worked hard restoring a big colonial house on Warwick Ave. She enjoyed a large, fun-loving circle of extended family in Connecticut. Her sister Mary Lawson and Brother-in-law Doug, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins all resided locally and there were many cookouts, and family celebrations involving a close-knit family. Cathy worked part-time as a switchboard operator at Sears Roebuck. In 1969, Cathy surprised her extended family when she announced she was moving the family to Kissimmee, FL. She always dreamed of living in Florida. Cathy adjusted to the Sunshine State, was very involved in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She directed the choir and worked as manager of Super Dollar in Downtown Kissimmee. When the store closed, she got a job at the City of Kissimmee and she loved working there. She was the heart of the city and took charge of activities and events that created a family environment there. In 1978, Cathy purchased a home in St. Cloud on Montana Ave. It was some of the happiest days of her life. Cathy was content being single, she loved her home and job. But, after 18 yrs. a blind date arranged by a co-worker led to a 22-year marriage, to Robert Miller. They wed on Valentines Day and their love story was legendary. Cathy retired from the city after 30+ Yrs. She and Bob built a new lakefront home and enjoyed a wonderful life. Their home was a hub of family gatherings and parties. Cathy and Bob had a pontoon boat and a dock where they often fished. On the refrigerator Cathy proudly displayed pictures holding 11lb+ bass she caught. She was a big football fan and rooted for the Florida Gators and the Fighting Irish. Bob had three sons, Tim, Tom and Terry. They visited and held a special place in her life. Sadly, she lost Bob in 2013. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Melbourne and dedicated her remaining years to her growing family. Cathy had welcomed into her heart seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. she continued to host Christmas every year up until 2023 and She was in her glory when the whole family was together laughing and socializing. She was most proud of her offspring and theirs. That is her true legacy. Cathy Miller was beloved by all who knew her. Described as sweet and kind by so many she was also strong and resilient. She was a devout catholic and lived independently with her cherished yorkie, Coco, right up until her passing. She will be missed by all who knew her. The heavenly welcome celebration included; her husband, Bob Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Doug Lawson, Mom and Dad, John and Margaret Shanahan, The Howards, the Reidy's and host of close friends. Cathy Miller is survived by her four children, Donna Sines, Thomas Glynn, Sean Glynn and Eileen Beaumont, son in law, David Beaumont, and daughter in law Julie Glynn. Grandchildren; Derrick Sines, Tina (wife); David Beaumont, Hannah (wife); John Beaumont, Krystal (wife) Cory Beaumont, Alana Beaumont, Darwin Cepeda (husband) and Ben Beaumont; Kyle Glynn, Erica (wife) Great grandchildren; Kendall Sines, Connor Sines, Emma Beaumont, Sadie Beaumont, Kyler Glynn, Aria Nakhlis and David Cepeda and Kyle Landon. Niece; Sandra Lawson and Ken Turner (spouse), Nephew; Craig Lawson and Eileen Lawson (spouse) Stepsons; Tim Miller, Sue (spouse) and Tom Miller.
