Carmen Candelaria

Carmen Dolores (Dolin/Carmelita) Candelaria, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 88 on Friday, June 14, 2024, at AdventHealth Orlando Hospital in Florida, after a courageous battle with carcinoid tumors. Carmelita was born in 1936 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she spent most of her life. Her parents were Santos Colon Viera and Candido Candelaria and brothers Ismael and Pavia. Carmelita graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a bachelor's degree in secretarial sciences and dedicated her career to B. Fernandez & Hnos., a prominent wholesaler and distributor. She worked there until her retirement, leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication. Carmelita was married to Victor (Vitin) M. Lopez for 54 years until his passing in 2018. Together they raised two sons, Orlando, Victor, and a daughter, Magaly. After Hurricane Maria in 2017, they relocated to Florida for Vitin's healthcare needs. In recent years, Carmelita lived with her daughter Magaly, son-in-law Willie, and grandsons Giovanni and Gabriel, who lovingly cared for her during her illness. Carmelita cherished her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews deeply. She also nurtured enduring friendships over her lifetime. Carmelita enjoyed traveling, dancing with Vitin, attending plays and concerts, and keeping up with fashion trends. She was a devout Catholic. Her faith was a pillar of strength throughout her life. Per her wishes, Carmelita was cremated. A Mass in her honor will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at St. James Cathedral, 215 North Orange Ave, Orlando FL. The burial of ashes for Carmelita alongside Vitin will be held the same day at 3:00pm at the Osceola Memorial Gardens, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Rd, Kissimmee, FL. Carmelita nació en 1936 en San Juan, Puerto Rico, donde pasó la mayor parte de su vida. Sus padres era Santos Colon Viera y Candido Candelaria y hermanos Ismael y Pavia. Carmelita se graduó de la Universidad de Puerto Rico con un bachillerato en ciencias secretariales y dedicó su carrera a B. Fernández & Hnos., un destacado mayorista y distribuidor. Trabajó allí hasta su jubilación, dejando un legado de trabajo arduo y dedicación. Carmelita estuvo casada con Víctor (Vitin) M. López durante 54 años hasta su fallecimiento en 2018. Juntos criaron a dos hijos, Orlando y Víctor, y a una hija, Magaly. Después del huracán María en 2017, se mudaron a Florida por necesidades médicas de Vitin. En sus últimos años, Carmelita vivió con su hija Magaly, su yerno Willie y sus nietos Giovanni y Gabriel, quienes la cuidaron amorosamente durante su enfermedad. Carmelita apreciaba profundamente a sus nietos, bisnietos, sobrinos y sobrinas. También cultivó amistades perdurables a lo largo de su vida. Disfrutaba viajar, bailar con Vitin, asistir a obras de teatro y conciertos, y seguir las tendencias de la moda. Era una católica devota y su fe fue un pilar de fortaleza a lo largo de su vida. Según sus deseos, Carmelita fue cremada. Se celebrará una Misa en su honor a la 12:30 pm del sábado 13 de julio del 2024 en St. James Cathedral, 215 North Orange Ave, Orlando FL. El entierro de las cenizas de Carmelita y Vitin se llevará a cabo el mismo dia a las 3:00 pm en Osceola Memorial Gardens, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Rd, Kissimmee, FL.
