Betty Joyce Barrett

Betty Joyce Barrett, 77, went to join her beloved Daddy, William C. ?Red? Barrett, her loving Mother, Margaret Breese Barrett Tyner, her brother Warren ?Buddy? Barrett and her brother-in-law Sonny Homan on Wednesday, April 2. Known all her life as ?Joyce,? she was born in Jacksonville, Florida on May 23, 1930. Spending her early years in Kissimmee, she graduated from Osceola High School in 1948. She attended Gregg Business School in Chicago, Illinois and returned home to begin a lifelong professional career in clerical, finance and business positions. In 1958, she moved to Orlando with her 2 daughters, where she spent her life dedicated to raising and spending time with her family. She loved music and was able enjoy her last working years being with school children at a local music shop in Orlando. She was an animal rescuer and nothing delighted her more than the love and affection of a newly rescued kitten. They have become a part of her family since her retirement 4 years ago and surely they will miss her. ÿ Joyce was a strong and independent woman who taught her daughters and others that anyone can do anything as long as they have determination and confidence. ÿ Joyce leaves behind her daughters, whose love, respect and admiration she will have forever, Debbie Kent-Rutledge and Sandy Criner, both of Orlando; her younger sister Mary Homan of Leesburg; her younger brother Kenny Barrett of Kissimmee; her two grandchildren Christy Keithley and Sean Seiler, both of Orlando; her Aunt Nita Davis of Melbourne, nephews Michael (Homan) and Billy (Barrett); nieces Margaret and Patty, (Davis); Brenda, Carol, Kathy, Rhonda, and Cheryl (Barrett.) Joyce also leaves behind all of the members of the family through marriage whom she proudly called her family, Uncle Harold Davis, son-in-law Roger Rutledge, grandson-in-law Robert Keithley, granddaughter-in-law Ashley Seiler, sisters-in-law Carol and Katherine Barrett. ÿ Services for Joyce will be held at Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee, Florida, on Tuesday, April 8 at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest beside her father immediately after the service. Visitation will be held on Monday night April 7 from 5:00 ? 8:00 where family members will receive her friends.
