Bertie Weathers

Bertie L. Weathers, aged 92, passed away on March 27, 2025 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Soddy, TN on May 16, 1932 to Walter Charles Hughes and Gertrude Bowman Hughes. She is survived by her four children Sherrie Johnson (Neute), Gary Weathers, and Tom Weathers (Lisa) of St. Cloud, and Donna Margison (Donald) of Gallatin, TN, and four sisters, Lennie Heard, Marie Stuart, Jessie Odom, and Shirley Williams all of Tennessee. She is also survived by her grandchildren Randy, Stephanie, and Andrew Weathers of St. Cloud, Kevin Weathers of Kissimmee, Nick Margison of Greensboro NC, and Kyle Margison of Gallatin, TN, and one step granddaughter Amanda Johnson Goodman, St. Cloud, along with great grandchildren Isabella, Mason, Kelsey, Kevonna, and Coleman, and step great grandchildren Jake, Petie, Jessie, Jarrett and Jace and extended family Kari, Kiara, Bella, and Alixandria. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Weathers and four siblings, Gid, Foster, and Ross Hughes, and Katherine Browning. She moved to Florida with her husband in the late 1950’s, first living in Miami and Ormond Beach before settling in St. Cloud in 1970 and working at Mercury Marine. She was the ultimate caregiver. She was deeply loved by all of her extended family which was a testament to the care and kindness she had shown throughout her life. She loved watching and helping raise her grandchildren and taking them on vacations to NC and TN. Her later years were spent being the caregiver to her husband who suffered from Parkinson’s late in life. She was the family host; gathering together the family for pool parties and celebrations for all occasions. Always known to have too much food on these occasions, she wanted all the grandkids to have some of their favorites. She was the host for the out of town guests and enjoyed getting visits from her extended family from TN. Most recently, she could spend hours on the phone with her friends or sisters as they shared their memories of a long and happy lifetime. She was from the depression generation who knew you had to work hard for what you needed and not squander away what you earned. She worked side by side with her husband after retirement on their farm in north Florida and again in St. Cloud when they would buy and clean up land around the area. She was a smart, independent woman who preferred to live on her own and manage mostly by herself even at the age of 92. However, she did want help for that smart phone and sometimes that fancy TV app! We will all miss her dearly but she left us with her strength and her guidance and we know that she is with her Lord and getting the rest and the reward that she surely has earned. In lieu of flowers, she would wish that you would donate to your favorite children’s charity such as St. Jude’s or Shriner’s. The family will have a private celebration of her life to honor her sweet generous spirit.
